The BMW Mini R53, built from November 2001 to 2006, is the first-generation Cooper S: a front-wheel-drive car with a Roots-type Eaton supercharger bolted to a 1.6 16v engine, giving 163bhp in standard form and considerably more in modified tune. The R53 became a competitive car in MINI Challenge, autotests, and hillclimb events almost immediately after launch. Its compact cabin and relatively low roofline make seat height critical: a generic universal bracket can push the occupant close to the headlining before the bolsters start providing meaningful support.
Part 68831929 is Recaro’s direct-fit sub-frame for the R53. It was introduced to cover the production run from November 2001 through to 2006, the year the R53 was replaced by the R56 with its turbocharged Prince engine. The bracket mounts to the OEM floor points without drilling, carries integrated sliding runners, and positions the seat at the height and angle Recaro designed for the R53’s specific floor geometry.
These frames work with Recaro base-mount reclining seats and base-mount bucket seats. Side-mounted competition shells need separate adaptor bars. One frame per seat.
