The Cobra Sebring T Pro-Fit in fibreglass, homologated to FIA 8855-1999. Part number COBSEBT-PF.
Built for tall drivers
The shoulders and head restraint areas are engineered for drivers up to 190cm. That is unusual: most competition shells run out of height before that, leaving a tall driver with the head restraint across their neck rather than around their head.
Crucially the geometry between the shoulders, the side head restraints and the harness slots is held correct while doing it, so a HANS device functions properly. A tall seat that breaks that relationship is worse than a short one.
The closed moulding system
Cobra’s own process, and it is what makes this shell both very rigid and the lightest in its class. Rigidity is what stops the seat flexing away from you under sustained load, which is the difference between support that holds and support that fades through a stint.
935mm tall, 590mm wide, 690mm deep on a 500mm base. The Sebring T evolved from the original Sebring S.
36 size combinations
This is the part people miss. The base and knee cushion comes in three depths, LO, MID and HI, the backrest in two, LO and MID, and the shell in standard or GT width, GT adding 30mm across. That gives 36 combinations, chosen from the dropdown when you order.
Cobra recommend starting at MID, MID, MID, and cushions can be changed later if you want to adjust the fit once you have driven in it. Take that advice unless you already know you are unusual in one dimension.
What is built into the shell
High sided lateral and kidney support, and integrated head side support with shock absorbing foam. A two stage leg cushion for comfort over a long stint. Harness facility for 4, 5 and 6 point belts.
High tensile mounting bolts are supplied with the seat, which is worth knowing because they are the fastening that matters most and the one people are tempted to substitute.
Side mount. Seat only. Tell us your height and build and we will help you pick the combination.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Does the Cobra Monaco Pro Fit My Mazda RX7 Mk3? A Detailed Fitment Guide, and Our Cobra Pro-Fit Bucket Seat 2023 Collection. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers over 6ft in height with a 28in to 32in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 4 point compatible and 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
