Fiat 500 Planted Technology Seat Brackets Are Now Available
Fitting brackets, February 2021
We have just added the Planted Technology seat bracket for the Fiat 500, listed for cars from 2009 onwards. It gives you a car specific steel base for an aftermarket seat, bolted to the 500's own mounting points.
Most of the interest comes from Abarth owners who take their cars on track, but the 500 is one of the smallest cars anyone fits a sport seat to, so there is more to it than choosing a seat you like the look of. Here is how it works.
- New: Planted Technology seat bracket for the Fiat 500 (2009+)
- Part number SB099
- Handed: order one for each side
- Takes sliding runners or side mounts, not the seat directly
- Space is tight, so seat choice depends on your height and build

The Fiat 500 bracket
The bracket is Planted part number SB099, listed for the Fiat 500 from 2009 onwards. It is handed, so a pair of seats needs two brackets, one for each side.
The Fiat 500 name goes back to the original car of 1957, and the modern car has kept its small footprint. That is part of the appeal, and it is also why this bracket is worth talking through before you order.
How a Planted bracket works
Planted Technology is a family owned American company that builds roll cages and full cars in its own fabrication shop, and it started making brackets for its own builds. Each one is laser cut from 3/16 inch steel, hand welded in the USA and powder coated black.
The bracket is the adapter between the floor and the seat. On top of it goes a pair of sliding runners, or side mounts for a fixed back bucket. The bracket is pre-slotted for the sliders of most major seat makers, including Cobra, Corbeau, OMP, Recaro and Sparco.

Space is the whole conversation
There is very little room between the door card and the tunnel in a 500, and the roof is low. A wide shell will not go in, and a tall driver in a high seat can run out of headroom. Garreth’s advice is to send us your height and build before you choose anything, and we will tell you which seats will actually fit.
The car has side airbags, so tell us about them too. And if you have an Abarth that came with sport seats from the factory, let us know what is in it before you spend money: they may already do what you need.
We also list an OMP subframe for the 500 if you would like a matched OMP seat and frame package. Our guide to universal seat sliding runners explains the runner side of the job.
Which Fiat 500 does the Planted bracket fit?
It is listed for the Fiat 500 from 2009 onwards, as part number SB099.
Do I need one bracket or two?
The bracket is handed, so a pair of seats needs one for each side.
Can any bucket seat go in a Fiat 500?
No. The cabin is narrow and the roof is low, so the seat has to suit the car and your height and build.
What goes between the bracket and the seat?
A pair of sliding runners, or side mounts for a fixed back bucket.

Our adviceMeasure before you choose
The bracket is simple. In a car this small, the seat choice is where the thought goes.
