2 × 2: shoulder and lap
The first figure is the shoulder width and the second is the lap width. Most of our picks have 2-inch (50 mm) shoulder and lap straps. That does not mean you can substitute another narrow belt without checking its approval.

Garreth & Cameron’s harness guide
Got the helmet and HANS sorted? The next question is which belt belongs in the car. We’d start with a six-point harness designed for an FHR, with a 2-inch shoulder section that sits on the device.
Here are eleven options across seven brands from our range. The useful differences are lap adjustment, hardware and installation—not just the badge on the webbing.

There is a specific exception to the blanket “no four-point” claim: SCHROTH approves certain ASM four-point systems with an FHR. That requires the exact approved harness and application. We’re not recommending those systems here; a generic four-point FIA label is not enough.
The first figure is the shoulder width and the second is the lap width. Most of our picks have 2-inch (50 mm) shoulder and lap straps. That does not mean you can substitute another narrow belt without checking its approval.
The Willans option below has 2-inch shoulders and 3-inch lap straps. It still belongs in this shortlist because the shoulder section is specifically designed for FHR use.
Some other approved harnesses use 3-inch shoulders or taper to 2 inches. They are not automatically unsuitable for HANS. We’ve kept this selection to dedicated 2-inch-shoulder models so it’s easier to compare like with like.
Two six-point, 2 × 2 choices. The H-2 PU uses pull-up lap adjustment; the H-2 PD is the pull-down alternative. Sit in the car before choosing: can you reach the adjusters and pull in the required direction without fighting the seat bolsters?
Both are HANS-specific FIA 8853-2016 listings. Confirm the supplied end fittings against your mounting arrangement rather than assuming every strap can be wrapped around a bar.
The One Versa Endurance is our OMP pick here: six-point, 2-inch webbing, FHR-only use and FIA 8853-2016 approval. The DA0-0202-A05 specification gives forged alloy adjusters and pull-down endurance lap adjustment.
This is worth considering when adjustment access matters. The lighter hardware is a practical difference from a steel-adjuster belt; it does not remove the need for an approved installation.
The Profi 2 × 2 is a six-point, 50 mm shoulder-and-lap harness with pull-up lap adjustment. The Flexi 2 × 2 offers lap adjustment that can be configured for pull-up or pull-down operation, following SCHROTH’s instructions.
Both are FIA 8853-2016 FHR-specific options. We’d choose between them by checking the driving position and adjustment access first. Confirm the fittings and configuration of the actual version you order.
The Steel 2 × 2 gives you the dedicated six-point layout with steel adjusters. The Silver Saloon / Rally is the alternative with Sabelt’s quick-release adjuster design. Both selected models use 2-inch webbing and carry FIA 8853-2016 approval.
The catalogue references end in 210S622SU2F for Steel and 210A622SU2F for Silver. Check the full colour and fitting reference when ordering: similar Sabelt names appear on other belt layouts too.
The International Standard is the straightforward steel-adjuster option. The International Ultralite changes to alloy shoulder and lap adjusters. Both are six-point FHR-only International harnesses with 50 mm webbing throughout and FIA 8853-2016 approval.
These are the two ends of the hardware choice. If you’re comparing the middle Superlite version elsewhere, that has alloy shoulder adjusters but steel lap adjusters. Don’t confuse the three versions.
The Silverstone LDT6 HANS is the different-width choice: 2-inch shoulders with 3-inch lap webbing. The FHR-only 2 / 3 specification uses alloy adjusters and a six-point arrangement with a T-style anti-sub assembly.
The Ultima Pro H2026 has 2-inch webbing throughout, alloy adjusters and a magnesium release box. Corbeau specifies it as a six-point FIA 8853-2016 harness designed for HANS/FHR use. You’ll also see the Luke harness name in our catalogue.
H2026 is the model name. It is not proof that the belt expires in 2026. Read the sewn-in expiry labels on the supplied harness before using it in competition.
We need the seat model, the driver’s seated shoulder height and the proposed anchor arrangement. Shoulder straps must run through the correct seat openings and onto suitable anchors, following the harness and FHR instructions. A cage tube is not automatically a harness bar.
Check the helmet anchors and tethers, device size, belt routing and all six straps with a competent installer. FHR-only harnesses are intended to be used with the device. Don’t improvise anchor points or remove the anti-sub straps for convenience.
Match the supplied labels to your event’s rules. Check expiry, condition and accident history; replace equipment as its manufacturer requires. FIA approval on the model name does not establish the remaining life of a particular belt.
We haven’t included QMS in the verified picks while its current width and approval details are being confirmed. Single-seater harness geometry also needs a separate check: don’t treat a saloon belt as a universal fit.
For the longer explanation, read our harness installation guide, seat and harness compatibility guide and 2-inch versus 3-inch shoulder guide.
No. Our recommendation for these competition setups is a complete six-point harness. Certain specifically approved SCHROTH ASM four-point systems are an exception, not permission to use an ordinary four-point belt.
No. Check the exact model’s FHR approval and instructions. Shoulder width alone doesn’t establish compatibility.
Start with the seat, anchors and adjustment access. Then compare the approved options that suit that arrangement. Tell us the car, seat, HANS model and event, and Garreth or Cameron can help narrow it down.
