The F430 improved on the 360 in most of the ways that matter on a circuit: sharper steering response, the E-Diff to manage traction out of slow corners, and enough power that any seat upgrade lands somewhere a driver actually notices. What it did not change was the standard factory seat. The Scuderia variant got carbon shell buckets, but the standard road car left the factory with a seat that holds you well enough in a straight line and tells you its limits through the middle of a fast bend.

The F430’s cockpit sits low and narrow, so the frame you choose affects both fitment and driving position. Which one you pick depends on the seat, so this decision comes first.

Every seat in this guide bolts down through a base mount pattern, and on this list the patterns do most of the deciding. The Cobra subframe is built around Cobra’s own 291mm x 330mm, which here means the two Misanos and nothing else. The Recaro Sportster CS uses a wider 405mm x 290mm and both Sparcos use 345mm x 271mm. None of those three match the Cobra subframe, so the Planted bracket is the route for them on this car.

The Lux is where the Misano range starts and it is the seat that makes most sense if you want the F430 to feel finished instead of converted. Carbon backrest, trimmed in leather or Dinamica in whatever combination you specify, and built to your order.
It is a Cobra, so it is the easy one to fit. The 291mm by 330mm base pattern drops straight onto the Cobra subframe with the runner already in the box, and it will sit on the Planted bracket just as happily if you would rather run that route for both seats.
The Sportster CS turns up in F430 enquiries regardless of what else is on the list, and it earns it. It is the only seat here that suits every waist and every height we list, the backrest angle adjusts on both sides, and it takes a three point belt as readily as a four point. For a car that gets driven on the road as well as on track, that flexibility is worth more than the weight it costs you.
At 14.7kg it is the heaviest seat on this page by some way, and its 405mm by 290mm pattern is its own. That puts it on the Planted bracket with runners in the 405mm width.
The Misano Anniversary is where the Cobra range stops trying to be sensible. It is the same 11.5kg shell as the Lux with the Anniversary trim treatment, and at 885mm tall it is the one to sit in first if you are near the top of the F430 cockpit.
Like the Lux it is Cobra pattern, so both frame routes are open and the Cobra subframe brings its own runner. Seat heating and lumbar support are on the options list if you are specifying it properly.
The SPR is the one to pick if the F430 is used the way it was built to be used. A fibreglass shell rather than a steel frame, so it holds you properly through a corner, and Sparco list it as suiting all waists and all heights, which is unusual for a seat this shape.
It bolts on the Sparco 345mm by 271mm pattern, so it goes on the Planted bracket with the Sparco runner kit underneath. Two brackets and two runner kits and the job is done.
The SPX is a full carbon fibre shell and it is the most expensive seat on this page by nearly a thousand pounds. What you get for it is 12kg, which is 2.7kg less than the Recaro, in a seat that still reclines. In a car where the standard seats are part of the reason people fit something else, that combination is genuinely hard to find.
Same 345mm by 271mm Sparco pattern as the SPR, so the same Planted bracket and Sparco runner underneath. If you are building the F430 you actually want, this is the seat.
The Cobra subframe for the F430 includes the sliding runner, so there is nothing else to add on that route. Going via the Planted bracket you add the runner separately: the 291mm handle option for the two Misanos, the 405mm option for the Recaro, and the Sparco runner kit for the SPR and the SPX. Both frames bolt to the factory floor points, so no drilling on a standard floor. Torque everything to spec and check seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often relocates the buckle.

The Planted bracket covers the Ferrari F430 Berlinetta and Spider from 2004 to 2009, including the 430 16M. The Scuderia uses a different seat arrangement and is not covered by this guide. If your car is at the edge of that date range, check the chassis number with us before ordering.

Do I need to drill the floor of my Ferrari F430?
No. Both routes pick up the factory mounting points. The Cobra subframe and the Planted bracket each bolt to what is already there, and nothing on the car is cut or modified.
Why are three of the five on the Planted bracket only?
Because the Cobra subframe is built around Cobra’s own 291mm by 330mm base pattern. The Recaro is 405mm by 290mm and both Sparcos are 345mm by 271mm, so those three want the flat Planted base with runners on their own pattern underneath.
Which is the lightest?
The Sparco SPX at 12kg, and it is the only carbon shell here. The two Misanos are 11.5kg but that figure is the shell before the Cobra subframe and runner go under it.
I am tall. Which should I be sitting in?
Start with the Misano Anniversary, which we list at 885mm, or the Recaro Sportster CS, the only seat on this page that suits every waist and height we list. Come and sit in both if you can get to Nottingham.
Can I mix a Cobra one side and a Sparco the other?
You can, and occasionally somebody does when only the driver seat is being changed. Run the Planted bracket on both sides if you do, so the two seats sit at the same height.
Do the prices include the frames?
No. Every seat on this page is the seat only. Add a bracket or subframe per side, and runners where the table says so. Ring us with the pair you want and we will price the whole job.
For an F430 that gets driven hard: the Sparco SPX. It is the most expensive seat here and it is also the only one that gives you a carbon shell and a recline mechanism in the same object, at 12kg. If that is more than you want to spend, the SPR is the same seat in fibreglass and the same frame route underneath.
For an F430 that is driven on the road and wants to stay comfortable: the Recaro Sportster CS. It suits every waist and height we list, it adjusts from both sides, and nobody has ever got out of one complaining.
