Most current Tillett side mounts cover several shell families, but that does not make every installation the same. Standard B6 seats must be ordered in the side-mount version, inward and outward brackets need different floor width, and Lotus or Mazda vehicle kits add their own limits.
For a generic flat floor, start with STBI or VTBI when width is tight, and STBO or VTBO when there is room outside the shell. STBT adds height. Then confirm that the exact seat has side-mount inserts and that the vehicle floor and restraint installation are suitable.
The previous page described B7 as supporting bottom mounting and spread road runners across race-seat rows. The current B7 uses integrated side-mount positions, and Tillett advises that adjustment runners are intended for road use rather than a race car.

Inward or outward is a cockpit decision
Both directions can fit the same shell and still land very differently on the floor.
Inward can help when
- Tunnel-to-sill width is tight
- Fasteners can still be reached
- The lower slots suit the floor interface
- The seat remains centred on the controls
Outward can help when
- The cockpit has spare width
- A wider footprint suits the floor structure
- Fasteners need easier access
- The door and tunnel remain clear
Measure the wheel, pedals and helmet position with the driver in the shell. An offset floor can require a deliberate bracket or cross-member design rather than moving one side of the seat to a different slot.
Generic brackets and runners in the live catalogue
Read the current compatibility field on each product before ordering.
The former codes in some titles help owners match old invoices, but the current code and current product page are the ordering reference. Do not pair parts solely because a forum photograph looks similar.
Standard B6 has two mounting versions
The shell must contain the intended inserts before a bracket can fit it.

This is the detail lost when a page says simply B6. Ask for the complete store product or Tillett model code. A bottom-mount B6 and side-mount B6 can share a visible shape while requiring different hardware.
Road runners are not the default race answer
Movement adds joints and locks that need to suit the use and rules.
Tillett states on the generic bracket pages that the compatible adjustment runners are intended for road use and advises against them in a race car. That is clearer than the old guide, which listed sliders under most seat families without separating road use from competition.
Define the use
Road, track day and regulated competition can produce different acceptable mounting routes.
Check both runner locks
A double-locking setup must engage evenly and remain accessible for inspection.
Check added height
Runner and adaptor thickness can undo the low seating position that made the shell attractive.
Check belt geometry again
Moving the seat changes the driver relative to lap, shoulder and buckle anchorages.
A Lotus kit is more than a generic side mount
Floor pattern, original belt points, model year and passenger-side width all matter.
The current EBS Elise and Exige bracket is for pre-2017 platform cars and lists particular B6, B7, B8, B9, B10 and C1 variants. It has its own notes for wider passenger seats and integrated belt mounting.
The TEMIRA01 Emira package is a dedicated runner-and-bracket set for named Tillett models. It includes mounting points for the original belts, but Tillett says it does not include an electrical solution for the airbag warning light.
Mazda MX-5 kits vary by generation and whether the original runner is retained. Give us the exact year and existing hardware rather than ordering from the car name alone.
The seat bracket does not approve the floor or belts
Treat every connection as its own check.
Seat to side mounts
Use the specified bolts, hole positions, angle and torque for the exact shell and bracket.
Mounts to runner or floor interface
Keep every fastener accessible and do not stack loose spacers to correct an angle.
Interface to the vehicle
Use the manufacturer vehicle kit or a properly engineered mounting structure.
Restraints and driver
Check belt anchorages, FHR position, helmet clearance, pedals and steering with the driver seated.
The side inserts and shell construction are part of the seat design. If the holes do not line up, stop and identify the wrong seat version, bracket or orientation.

Which generic side mounts fit the current B6, B7, B8, B9, B10 and C1 families?▾
Tillett currently lists STBI, STBO, VTBI, VTBO and STBT for a broad group including those families. Standard B6 and B6 XL must be the side-mount versions. Check the exact seat and current bracket page.
What is the difference between an inward and outward bracket?▾
Inward brackets tuck under the shell and reduce the mounting footprint. Outward brackets spread away from the shell and need more cockpit width but can make fasteners easier to reach.
Are STBI and VTBI interchangeable?▾
They cover a similar seat list and both point inward, but STBI is 5 mm aluminium and VTBI is 3 mm steel. Weight, footprint, fasteners and the complete installation still need checking.
Can a standard B6 use side mounts?▾
Only when it is the side-mount version. The B6 and B6 XL are also sold as bottom-mount seats, and a generic side bracket cannot create mounting inserts that the shell does not have.
Can I fit runners below an FIA Tillett seat?▾
Tillett says on its current generic bracket pages that its runners are intended for road use and advises against runners in a race car. Use a fixed installation where the manufacturer and event rules require it.
Does the EBS Lotus bracket fit every Elise and Exige?▾
No. The current EBS page identifies pre-2017 cars and gives seat, width, side and belt-mounting notes. Later chassis and wider passenger seats can need other EBR or ERAIL combinations.
Does the Emira use Elise brackets?▾
No. Tillett lists a dedicated TEMIRA01 runner and bracket package for named B6 Screamer, B7, B8, B9 and B10 variants. It includes original-belt mounting points but no electrical solution for the airbag warning light.
What should I send for a bracket check?▾
