Customer Question: Sparco R333 Seats In A Fiesta ST180 Mk7

Customer question, answered properly

Another Fiesta ST180 question in this week, and a different one from the last two we answered on this car: not which bucket, not which lightweight shell, but whether the Sparco R333 recliner goes in properly and what it needs to get there. Short answer, yes, and it needs exactly two other parts from us.

The R333 sits on the Sparco ST180 sub-frame with the Sparco sliding runners between them, all three sharing Sparco’s 345 by 271 bolt pattern, and the original seat belt buckle carries on working. That is the whole shopping list. The rest of this page is the reasoning, plus the honest note about seat height that saves an email later.

  • Three parts per seat: the R333, the Sparco ST180 sub-frame and the Sparco sliding runners
  • All three share Sparco’s 345 by 271 bolt pattern, so nothing needs adapting
  • The original seat belt buckle carries on working with this setup
  • A pair costs £1,162.94 all in: two seats, two frames and the runner kit for both
  • A recliner on a frame and runners sits level with the standard seat, never lower

I have a Mk7 Fiesta ST180 and I like the look of the Sparco R333 seats. Will they fit, what do I need to mount them, and will my seat belts still work?

The question, as it arrived

The straight answer

Yes, and it is one of the tidier recliner installs we do on this car. The R333 is a base mount seat on Sparco’s 345 by 271 pattern. The Sparco ST180 sub-frame bolts to the Fiesta’s factory floor points and presents that same pattern on top. The Sparco sliding runner kit goes between the two, same pattern again, and gives you the fore and aft adjustment a road car needs. Three Sparco parts, one bolt pattern, no drilling on a standard floor.

The belt question has the same easy answer: the original seat belt buckle carries on working with this setup, so the standard three point belt does its job exactly as before. If you want to understand why that is a real question on other cars, our seat belt integration guide covers it; on this combination you do not need to.

Those three are the shopping list. The sub-frame is handed, so a pair means two frames; the runner kit already covers both seats in one order, which its listing says plainly. If the plan is a pair of seats, the Sparco seat section carries the R333 as a pair listing too.

Why the R333 suits a Fiesta

A Fiesta cabin is not enormous, and the R333 is the compact end of Sparco’s recliner range: a steel-framed shell in black cloth with proper side bolsters, an integrated headrest with harness slots, and no armrests to fight the tunnel or the door card. Our listing sizes it for drivers under six foot with a 32 to 36 inch waist, which describes most people asking us about this car. Garreth’s view from the counter: in an ST180 the R333 is the recliner he would pick before the wider shells, because it keeps the door-to-tunnel width honest and still feels like a sports seat, not a chair.

Two things it is not. It is not an FIA seat, so it is a road and track day seat, not a competition one, and it is not the lightest option for the car, which is a different conversation we had in our lightweight seats answer for the same shell.

The honest word on seat height

A recliner never sits lower than the standard seatThe R333 rides on the sub-frame with the runners on top, and that stack puts you level with where the factory seat had you, not below it. If sitting lower is the goal, especially in a helmet, only a fixed back bucket on the sub-frame actually drops you, and that is covered on the other ST180 pages. For a road car that wants better support without giving up the recline, the R333 at standard height is exactly right.

What it costs

Common questions

No. The R333 is a base mount seat, so it bolts down through its base onto the runners and frame. Side mounts are for side mount buckets, which is the other route on this car and a different parts list.

It is the same Sparco part, 00499109, listed for the ST180 specifically and for the Mk6 and Mk7 Fiesta generally. Order whichever listing names your car; the metal is identical.

The original buckle carries on working with this setup, so the belt clips home as it always did. Tell us the car’s year when you order and Cameron will confirm anything specific to your spec while you are on the phone.

The seat has harness slots and our listing marks it four point compatible for road and track day use. The anchoring rules are the same as for any seat and are drawn out in our harness fitting guide; keep the standard belt fitted either way.

Probably not. The listing sizes the R333 for drivers under six foot, and in a Fiesta the headroom is the limit before the seat is. Ring us with your height and we will steer you to the shell that fits you and the car.

The next stepTell us one seat or two, and your height

That is the whole order: R333, ST180 sub-frame per side, the runner kit, and Cameron checks your height against the seat before anything ships. Ring 0115 9893488, or come and sit in the R333 in the showroom, which answers the fit question faster than any page.
