The Tillett W1i is part of the W series, a range built for single-seaters and formula cars where there is not enough cockpit clearance for a full headrest. There is no headrest on the W1i. The shell sits lower and more compact than a standard Tillett B seat, which is the point in a car where the seat needs to pass under a roll hoop or fit inside a narrow cockpit surround.
Construction is GRP, black. SKU W1i-40-Black-GRP. The shell measures 40 cm wide with rolled edges cut off and 44 cm with them on, the same width system as the B6. Road and Track approval.
The W1i takes a 4-point harness. If you need 6-point harness compatibility, the W4 and W5 are the seats in the W range to look at instead. Mounting is side or base mount. A back frame is available as an option for cars or regulations that require one. Without the back frame the shell is lighter.
Seat cover options are Dinamica faux suede panels or bare shell.
If your car is a conventional track car or performance road car rather than a single-seater, the B6 or B10 are likely the better fit. The W series is specifically built for compact-cockpit formula car applications where a standard headrest cannot be accommodated.
Will I fit in this seat?

Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This seat takes both base and side mounting, so the fitting stack depends on which route you pick for your car. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 4 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. These carbon seats are handcrafted in the UK for each order. We do not stock or display them in the showroom, so everything is a special order placed with Tillett when you buy.
