A Sparco direct fit sub-frame for the Ford Focus Mk2 ST 225. Part number 004990681-ST225.

The ST 225 gets seated more often than the standard Mk2, and usually for the same reason: the car is quick enough that the driver ends up bracing against the standard seat rather than steering. A bucket on a direct fit frame fixes that, and it does it on the mounting points Ford already put in the floor.

Fitment

Steel, presenting the 345mm by 271mm base mount pattern. That covers Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats. Older copy on this range said the frames take only same brand seats, which was never right for this spacing.

Side mount competition shells need side mounts or adaption bars fitted over the frame.

Ordering

Sold singly, one frame per seat, handed. Choose RHD driver or RHD passenger and order twice for a pair.

Tell us the seat when you order, and tell us whether the factory seats carry side airbags. The ST’s Recaros are worth keeping, so a reversible installation is the right call: they come out whole on this frame and go back in when the car is sold.

Frames in this range are either complete replacements or adaption bars, decided by the car, and the photograph is illustrative.

What's included?

What will be in the box? There are several types of seat frames which may be supplied depending on the vehicle and application. You may receive 1 of the following 4 types. If you are using them with a certain seat, please contact us in advance for professional advice.

#2. A full replacement frame with a sliding runner
#3. A full replacement frame only
#4. An adaption bracket kit

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Bolt point tolerances:

Please note that OMP, Sparco and various other brands have a +/- 10mm tolerance on the bolt point locations on each of their sub-frames. This means that when installing the equipment into your vehicle, you may find that one or more of the bolt points may need extending for a perfect fit.

This is normal and, when installed by a skilled professional, it may only add five minutes to the total installation time. A prime example is the OMP Renault Clio MK3 frames and the BMW E46 frames as two bolt points need extending by 5mm in 75% of installations.

Drilling of frames and equipment may be required to complete your installation.

Matching seats and frames:

There are over half a dozen different bolt patterns in the industry for base mounted seats. There are over 30 different bolt patterns for side mounted seats. Aftermarket frames from different brands will have different bolt location points. 

Seats and frames are not a direct fit between brands. Seat frames are also not suitabled for OEM seats (Fitted into a vehicle from the factory) Please ensure to contact us for professional advice before purchasing your seat frames. We will be able to provide you a recommendation as to which seat frame is right for which seat.

Will this fit my car?
This frame is made for the Ford Focus Mk2 ST 225. Chassis code and years matter more than the badge, as floor pans change between generations, so if your car sits near a changeover year, send us the registration and we will confirm before you order.

Which seats does it take?
It takes seats drilled 345mm x 271mm (the Sparco and OMP seat pattern). The Compatible seats tab above lists what bolts straight on. If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Sparco frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
This is a base-mount frame: the seat bolts down through its base, the simpler stack that suits seats with a flat bottom and keeps the install low-fuss. Our guide on base mount versus side mount explains the whole fitting stack.

Is this for the driver or passenger side?
Both sides are available on this listing, pick driver or passenger side at the point of order (sides listed are for right-hand-drive cars). Left-hand-drive car? Ask us, as the sides swap over and availability varies by model.

Sparco produce in batches and we receive Sparco products on a weekly basis, so the popular seats, harnesses and accessories are usually available for quick dispatch.

Less common models and colours are ordered in for you and take longer.

Tell us when you order and we will confirm the lead time up front rather than after the event. If it is on the shelf we will say so, and if it is coming in on the next delivery we will tell you when that is.
