Shoulder pads sit between the harness strap and the driver’s shoulder, and the Schroth 3-inch Nomex Harness Shoulder Pads, part SSP00, do two things the bare strap cannot. First, they spread the load: a 3-inch strap under braking concentrates force into a band roughly as wide as your palm, and the pad distributes that across a broader area of the shoulder. Second, they provide a degree of fire protection in the immediate area around the strap, because the outer material is Nomex rather than a standard woven pad fabric.
These are the 3-inch (75mm) versions, so they fit the Profi 3×2, Enduro 3×2 and Flexi harnesses from the Schroth range that run 3-inch shoulder webbing. They will not fit the 2-inch shoulder belts on the Profi 2×2, Enduro 2×2 or Clubman 2×2; those need the 2-inch shoulder pad (part 09309-X2) sold separately.
The pad is black with a choice of flocking colour: silver or yellow. The flocking is the soft contact surface on the inside of the pad, the face that sits against your race suit shoulder. Silver is the conventional choice for a black harness and looks clean against most suit colours. Yellow flocking is the high-visibility option and is common in single-seaters where the harness is visible in the cockpit. Both versions are listed under part SSP00 as a variable product; select your preference before adding to basket.
Sold individually (one pad per order). A driver and passenger or a left/right pairing requires two. The pad slides onto the shoulder strap from the buckle end and sits between the buckle hardware and the shoulder contact point.
If you are not sure whether Nomex pads are mandatory in your category, check your series regulations. Many club regulations specify that shoulder pads are required with a multi-point harness, and some also specify material standards. If we can help with a question, get in touch.
