The Porsche 924 ran from 1976 to 1988 and the 924’s successor, the 944, continued until 1991. Both use a front-engine, rear-transaxle layout with the gearbox mounted at the back for near-perfect weight distribution. The 924 floor is compact and low, characteristic of a proper sports car, and the 944 retained the same basic architecture while widening the body and fitting larger flared arches.
Part number 869416-1946 covers both the 924 and 944. It attaches to the factory floor fixing positions and provides the fore-aft running adjustment that keeps the Recaro seat positioned correctly relative to the steering wheel and pedals. These are relatively small cars with a driving position that is already quite reclined, and getting the seat geometry right is more critical than in a larger cabin.
The 924 and 944 have a strong following in club racing, historic rallying, and track days. Both are considered classics now, and the 944 Turbo and S2 in particular are regarded as genuinely quick machines by any standard. Many owners running these cars in competition have Recaro seats already, and the direct-fit sub-frame keeps the installation clean and without improvisation.
