The second-generation Punto, sold between October 1999 and September 2003 on Fiat’s 188 platform, found a strong following with buyers who wanted a small Italian hatchback with personality rather than a plain city car. The HGT and Sporting variants brought a 1.8 16v engine and a close-ratio gearbox, which made the Mk2 Punto a capable track-day car in the right hands. The factory seats in these performance trims were an improvement over the standard car but still gave limited lateral hold in faster corners.
Part 867316-1815 is Recaro’s direct-fit sub-frame for the Punto built from October 1999 to September 2003. It uses the OEM floor mounting points, needs no drilling, and carries integrated sliding runners. The 1815 suffix identifies this as the 188-platform Punto variant within the Recaro catalogue, distinguishing it from the later Grande Punto sub-frame (689419) which uses a different floor geometry.
