The Citroen C5, built before October 2008, is the successor to the XM and Xantia executive cars, retaining the Hydractive suspension philosophy in its third-generation Hydractive 3 system. Like its predecessors, it prioritised ride quality above almost everything else in the brief, which produced a genuinely accomplished long-distance touring car but one whose standard seats gave very little lateral support. The C5’s wide cabin and flat seat base made it a natural candidate for aftermarket sport seat fitment in the driving position.
Part 689019 covers the C5 built before October 2008. Note that the same base code appears on the Citroen Combi sub-frame (689019-1807), which is a different vehicle. The undated C5 listing uses the base code alone. The kit mounts to the OEM floor points, includes integrated sliding runners, and is among the more affordable Recaro sub-frame kits at £134, reflecting a simpler bracket geometry on this platform than on more complex chassis.
These frames work with Recaro base-mount reclining seats and base-mount bucket seats. Side-mounted competition shells need separate adaptor bars. One frame per seat. The C5’s intended use as a touring and motorway car suits a Recaro Comfortline reclining seat well, particularly if the car sees long continental journeys.
