The Kirkey 79 Series is the 10 degree sprint containment seat, the more upright of Kirkey’s two sprint designs. At 10 degrees the driver sits noticeably more vertical than in the 78 Series at 18 degrees, which changes the sight line over the nose and how the load travels through the seat during a side impact. Some sprint car drivers and builders prefer the 10 degree position; others find the 18 degree more comfortable over a full race programme.
Widths run from 14 to 17 inches in half-inch steps (14, 14.5, 15, 15.5, 16, 17). A black cloth cover is included. This listing is for the seat and cover only; mounting brackets are not included, unlike the 78 Series which bundles them in the kit price. Part number is 79-Series.
Kirkey introduced the 95 Series as the current sprint car seat, certified to SFI 39.2 and built with a three-piece adjustable design giving four inches of vertical travel. The 79 Series is the outgoing model. It remains a solid choice for sprint car builders and classes where the SFI 39.2 certification is not required, and it is the lower-cost route into a Kirkey sprint containment shell.
For drivers stepping up from a street stock or short-track oval build, the 89 Series (part 89-Series) and 86 Series are the intermediate containment steps before sprint-specific seating. Contact us with the class and sanctioning body rules and we will confirm whether the 79 Series satisfies your current requirements.
