The Kirkey 78 Series is the premium sprint car containment seat in the Kirkey range: more reclined, wider in the size options and supplied with mounting brackets. The 18 degree layback is the steeper of the two Kirkey sprint containment angles; where the 79 Series positions the driver at 10 degrees (closer to upright), the 78 leans the driver further back. On many sprint car chassis the 18 degree position puts the driver’s head lower relative to the roll cage and better aligned with the headrest supports.
Widths run from 14 to 18.5 inches, offered in half-inch steps (14, 14.5, 15, 15.5, 16, 17, 18.5). The half-inch options reflect how precisely sprint car builds are set up; a seat that is close but slightly wrong creates unnecessary shoulder contact on the containment bolsters across a full programme. A black cloth cover is included and mounting brackets are in the price. Part number is 78-Series.
The 79 Series (part 79-Series) is the alternative for the driver who wants sprint containment at 10 degrees and is comfortable sourcing mounting brackets separately. Kirkey has introduced the 95 Series (SFI 39.2, three-piece adjustable design) as the current sprint car seat for classes that require the certification; the 78 Series remains a solid option for classes where SFI certification is not required.
This kit covers seat, cover and mounting brackets. Tell us the car and sanctioning body and we will confirm whether the 78 Series meets your specific class requirements.
