The Kirkey 73 Series is built for asphalt oval racing. Asphalt loading differs from dirt: the grip level is higher, cornering speeds are faster and lateral G forces are sustained for longer through the banked corners. The 73 Series containment design puts material where those lateral loads transfer, and the 15 degree layback positions the driver at the angle asphalt late model and modified cars use to keep the weight distribution where the chassis requires it.
Widths run from 14 to 18 inches. A black cover is included. The 73 Series accepts a six-point harness. Part number is 73-Series. The listing is for the seat and cover; mounting brackets are not included and should be added separately (part 99212, listed separately).
For dirt oval or short track, the 89 Series (part 89-Series) shares the 10 degree angle with similar containment but is not positioned specifically for asphalt. The 86 Series (part 86KIT-86-Series) is the adjustable containment choice for dirt late model and street stock at 20 degrees with brackets included.
For drivers at the top of the asphalt late model ladder where the class requires SFI 39.2 certification, Kirkey builds the 93 Series to that standard. Contact us with your class and sanctioning body for confirmation before ordering, as the accepted seat list varies between organisations and regions.
