The Kirkey 32 Series is a containment seat built for the extreme recline angles used in indoor oval disciplines: Northeast Indoor Pavement TQ Midgets, Bandolero cars and Mini-Cup. The layback is 40 degrees, more than twice the angle of most sprint and short-track seats. Kirkey explicitly states the 32 Series is not recommended for full-size race cars; the geometry that works in a compact indoor oval car would place a full-size car driver in an impractical position.
Why 40 degrees on an indoor oval? Tight banking and very quick direction changes lower the centre of gravity requirements dramatically compared to an outdoor dirt track, and the extreme recline moves the driver’s weight rearward in a way that suits the specific chassis balance of these cars.
The shell is built from .080 inch 5052-grade aluminium, lighter than the .100 inch standard, and comes with Kirkey’s C-clamp head restraint supports (part 99216) for additional head restraint stiffness at the extreme angle. A black cloth cover is included. Width options are 14, 15 and 16 inches; 17 inch is available on request. Part number is 32-Series.
The listing price covers the seat and cover; rear mounting brackets are not included. If you are unsure whether the 32 Series suits your class and chassis, check the sanctioning body rulebook for your specific series first, then contact us.
