The panel that takes the scuffs
The bottom third of a front door panel gets caught by shoes every time someone gets in. Nothing else in an interior takes that particular kind of abuse, and it is the reason vinyl has always been the standard answer down there.
It wipes clean, it does not mark when something wet is dragged across it, and a scuff on vinyl comes off rather than staying.
Why the door panel matters more than people expect
It is the largest single area of trim you see from the driving seat. Seats get the attention, but the door panels set the tone of a cabin because there is simply more of them in view.
Which is why leaving old panels in after fitting new seats rarely looks right. The new work makes the old trim look worse than it did before.
The six materials
Vinyl, vinyl and fabric and spacer fabric are the lower priced tier. Leather, alcantara and leather and alcantara cost more.
Front panels are dearer than rear ones across the board, because there is more to them: the handle, the winder and the pocket all have to be worked around.
