The Volkswagen Golf Mk2 (1983 to 1992) is one of the most common cars in UK hillclimb paddocks. A sport seat upgrade is usually one of the first jobs once a Mk2 is on a weight-reduction programme. The standard seat is wide and unstructured, and the Mk2’s driving position rewards proper lateral support through the faster corners.
These sub-frames use the Golf Mk2’s original floor bolt points. They are steel, they replace the OEM runner arrangement entirely, and they accept a Corbeau base-mounted or reclining sport seat. The Mk2 floor rails are relatively simple compared to later Golf platforms, and the fit is usually straightforward. Bolt tolerances are plus or minus 10mm. Older cars occasionally need minor cleaning up of the bolt holes, but drilling is not normally required.
Corbeau seats only. A different brand will not locate correctly on Corbeau hardware. These frames are for base-mounted and reclining sport seats only, not side-mounted FIA competition seats.
