The Volkswagen Golf Mk1 (1974 to 1983) is light, narrow, and genuinely short on interior space by modern standards. A 1.6 GTI weighs under 800kg. The cabin is noticeably tighter than any Golf made after it, and fitting a sport seat is a more involved decision than on later cars because the base width matters a lot in the restricted interior. It is worth measuring the available space between the sill and the centre console before you settle on a seat model.
These sub-frames are matched to the Golf Mk1’s floor fixing points. They are steel, they replace the original runners, and they accept a Corbeau base-mounted or reclining sport seat without drilling in most applications. On a car this age the floor bolts sometimes need cleaning up, and the floor itself is worth inspecting for corrosion before fitting. Bolt tolerances are plus or minus 10mm.
Corbeau seats only. The frames are specific to Corbeau’s bolt pattern and another brand will not seat correctly. Side-mounted FIA competition seats do not use these frames.
Price is for one frame. Order twice for both seats. Tell us which Corbeau seat at checkout and we will confirm the fit before the order ships.
