The Vauxhall Astra Mk1, built from 1980 to 1984 as the first Kadett-based Astra sold in the UK, is firmly in the historic competition category now. The GTE variant, which ran the 2.0-litre 16-valve engine from 1983, is the most motorsport-relevant version and is eligible for several historic class categories. The Kadett D floor architecture uses specific fixing positions that predate every subsequent Astra generation. Cars of this age carry 40 to 45 years of use, and the floor structure may have seen repair or modification over its life. Fitting a modern bucket seat without a properly engineered sub-frame on a car of this age risks distorting the floor or creating a seat that moves under load.
This Corbeau sub-frame is matched to the Mk1 Astra’s floor fixing layout. The kit works from the original bolt positions and avoids any drilling into steel that is four decades old. The configuration may be a complete replacement frame or an adaptation bracket set depending on the specific kit Corbeau have developed for the Mk1 floor.
