The Type Pro is a vinyl reclining seat with the widest shoulder section in the steel-framed range. Part number SS49Z, £242 single. Two options: plain black, or black with a white Auto Style logo panel on the backrest. Both cost the same.
Dimensions: base 47cm, shoulder 60cm, depth 54cm, height 89cm, weight 13kg. The 60cm shoulder matches the BS2 (SS42, £265) and is the widest in the steel-framed reclining group. The difference from the BS2 is the backrest construction: the Pro uses a standard reclining mechanism without the fibreglass reinforcement in the BS2’s back panel. That saves £23. If backrest stiffness under load matters, the BS2 is the better-specified seat. If it does not, the Pro gives the same shoulder width for less money.
The vinyl trim on the Pro is the only material option. The white logo variant gives the backrest a two-tone look that works well if the car already has white detailing; the plain black is the choice for a cleaner finish.
For the same shoulder width and £5.40 less, the MR (SS 75, £236.60) uses a cloth-centre trim and has a narrower 54cm shoulder. If the 60cm shoulder is what you are after, the Pro is the choice over the MR.
