The Type GT Blue Tartan (SS 85B) is the blue version of Auto Style’s GT reclining seat. The shell is black vinyl with blue and white tartan fabric inserts. It reads well in classic and retro-styled builds, period Golfs, Novas and Astras among them, where a plain black seat looks too modern. Blue and white tartan is the subtler of the four GT Tartan colours and the one that sits most comfortably alongside chrome or original-specification trim.
Steel frame, 405mm x 280mm base-mount bolt pattern, reclining backrest, no headrest. All driver heights and waist sizes. Sliders included. Fitting frame purchased separately. 4-point harness compatible. Tartan fabric is on the centre inserts only; the bolsters are plain black vinyl and the overall seat holds its shape at the same level as the rest of the steel-frame reclining range.
The Yellow (SS 85Y), Grey (SS 85G) and Red (SS 85R) tartan versions are the same seat at the same price with a different colourway. Auto Style carry no FIA competition approval on this seat. This listing is purely the blue. Part number SS 85B.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Discover the Auto Style Type AK Reclining Sports Seat, and Auto Style Type Classic Bucket Seats Now Available to View In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker lists no driver size restriction on this seat, so it suits the full range of heights and waists. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
You need the car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner for fore-and-aft adjustment. Tell us your car and we will quote the complete fitting kit in one go. Our sliding runner guide covers the adjustment side.
Does it recline like a normal seat, and what about armrests?
Yes, the backrest reclines, which is the whole point of a sport recliner over a fixed bucket: support in the corners, comfort on the motorway, and access to rear seats. Armrests: not fitted on this model. Our recliner lineup comparison shows how the ranges stack up.
I am a bigger driver. Will it work for me?
Possibly, and it depends on the exact shell rather than the brand. We wrote a straight-talking guide on sport recliners for larger drivers from real showroom fittings, and if you send us your waist and height we will tell you honestly which recliners work at your size.
