Classic Mini seat guide
Swapping the original seats is one of the best upgrades you can make to a classic Mini, and it is also one of the easiest to get wrong. The cabin is narrow, the floor mounting points are unlike anything modern, and a good seat on the wrong frame will never sit right.
That is why we put together complete Mini seat packages: a pair of seats and a pair of frames made for the Mini floor, matched and sold together. Here is what is in them and which ones we would point you towards.

What is in a classic Mini seat package
Every package has a pair of seats, fixed-back or reclining, and a pair of Endurance Motorsport frames made for the classic Mini. The frames bolt to the original seat mounting points in the floor, so there is no drilling or fabrication, and the seats base mount on top of them.
Buying the seats and frames together takes out the part people usually get wrong. The two are already matched, so you are not waiting on a second delivery when the first order turns out to be missing something.
Fixed-back: the Cobra Clubman 40th Edition
For a traditional bucket seat look, the Cobra Clubman 40th Edition package is the one. It is a fixed-back seat in the classic Cobra style, on a steel frame with black stitching, and it holds you far better through corners than the original seats.
It is approved for road and track, not FIA homologated, so it suits fast road cars, track days and shows. If you need an FIA seat for a licence, this is not the package, and we will point you to one that is. It is listed for drivers under six feet; in a Mini the cabin is the real limit, so tell us your height if you are close to that.
Reclining: the Corbeau packages
If the Mini is used on the road, a reclining seat is the practical choice. It tilts forward for access to the rear seats and reclines for longer drives. We package the Corbeau Sportline SVR, RRS and RRB, the VLS in cloth or vinyl, and the Dakota in leather, all on the same Endurance frames.
The difference between the Sportline seats is how the shell holds you. The SVR is the most sculpted through the sides, which is why drivers who use the car hard tend to pick it.
For a period look, the RRS Tartan package is hard to beat in a Mini. The tartan is cut and trimmed to order, with eight tartans to choose from, so confirm the year of the car and any floor work with us before it is made.

Other routes into a Mini
The Corbeau Alpine comes as a single seat with its own Mini fitting kit, in standard or Excel width. The Mini is narrow, so the standard shell suits most people and the Excel is for those who need the room.
Cobra also make their own direct fit Mini subframes, with a 291mm x 330mm base pattern and the sliding runners included, in a standard version and one with a rear locking bar. Our answer on fitting Cobra Classic GT seats to a classic Mini shows another seat that works well in the car.
Before you order
Floors get replaced on these cars, and a new floor can move the mounting points. Garreth’s advice is to lift the carpet, check the metal around the seat mounts, and tell us the year and history of the car before you order. Prices on the packages can move with the seat makers’ prices, so ask us for a current quote.
