New Sparco R100 Plus Seat Now Available

Sparco has released a new reclining sport seat for 2023, the R100 Plus. It is closely based on the R100, one of Sparco's best known road seats, with a new two-tone trim.
The outer areas are a soft faux leather vinyl and the centre is a breathable microfibre. The look is close to the Sparco GT reclining seat, and it gives the R100 Plus a more classic feel than the original R100.

What is new about the R100 Plus
The change is the trim. The R100 Plus keeps the shape of the R100 and dresses it in two materials: faux leather vinyl on the bolsters and edges, where a seat wears most, and a breathable microfibre in the centre, where you sit. The contrast gives it a more classic, upmarket look than the original.
If you have seen the Sparco GT reclining seat, the R100 Plus will look familiar. It borrows that two-tone style but keeps the R100’s frame and size.
Why the R100 suits so many cars
The R100 is compact and suits most cars. Its side bolsters are lower and its steel frame slightly narrower than many sport seats, so it goes into cars where a seat with big bolsters would foul the sill or the centre console.
It has harness slots in the backrest, so it can be used with a harness or the normal seatbelt, and a smooth recline mechanism. The R100 is Sparco’s entry reclining seat, but it is made to the same standard as the rest of the range.

Reclining seat or fixed back bucket?
A reclining sport seat gives you more support than a standard seat and keeps the recline and tilt, which makes it the usual upgrade for a road car. Sparco’s FIA fixed back buckets are built for more support and control. With no recline or tilt mechanism, there is less to move when the car is driven hard, which suits fast road and track use.

Choosing a harness to match
Garreth’s advice is to match the harness to the seat. Sparco reclining seats have two harness slots in the backrest, so we recommend a 4 point harness or a lower count with them.
