One pair only: the Mirco RTX-7 Blue Stitch Limited Edition has landed in the showroom

Unpacking a delivery from Mirco is normally routine. This one was not. Out of the crate came a pair of RTX-7 Limited Editions with every stitch line, the backrest embroidery and the mirco logos picked out in blue on black 3D SpaceTech trim, and they had the whole showroom over for a look before they were off the bench.

The standard RTX-7 wears silver stitch. Seeing the same seat done in blue is a bigger change than it sounds, because the stitching follows every panel line on the trim, so the colour runs the full length of the bolsters and right round the harness slots.

We have one pair, they came straight from the factory, and we are not expecting more. They are listed as a pair, so the first person to want them gets both.

  • One pair in stock, sold together, £837.60 including VAT
  • FIA 8855-1999, homologation CS.488.22, HANS friendly
  • Black 3D SpaceTech trim with blue stitch, embroidery and logos
  • Same shell and dimensions as the standard RTX-7

What Mirco has done with this one

The shell is the standard RTX-7 item, polyester glass laminate with the gloss gel coat, and the trim cloth is the same 3D SpaceTech mesh as the seat we sell every week. The limited edition work is all in the detail. Blue stitching on every seam, RTX-7 Limited Edition embroidered on the backrest in blue, and the mirco logos on the headrest and the leg cushion done to match.

In the flesh it reads as a factory job because it is one. The stitch tension and the seam lines are exactly what you get on the standard seat, just in the other colour.

The stitch lines follow every panel, so the blue runs the full length of each bolster.
They are on the floor nowBoth seats are out of the box and on display next to the rest of the Mirco row. Come and see the blue against the standard silver stitch seat, because photographs flatten the difference. Sitting in one settles it in about a minute.

The listing, and why it is a pair

Mirco shipped these as a matched pair from the same production run, and we have listed them the same way. Two seats, one listing, £698 plus VAT for both, which is the same money as the standard pair listing. The blue costs nothing extra.

A matched pair matters more on seats than it does on most kit. Two seats trimmed side by side in the same batch of cloth and thread are identical, and they stay identical as they wear. Buying a second seat a year later never quite gets you that.

If you have been waiting for an excuse to do both sides of the car at once, this is a good one.

  • Sold as a pair on one listing
  • Stock shows live on the product page
  • Fixed back, side mount, five harness slots each
  • Fitting frames and side mounts sold separately, tell us the car

The numbers, straight off the drawing

Mirco publishes a dimension drawing for the RTX-7 and it is on the product listing with the photographs. Everything here is read off that drawing, nothing is estimated.

600 mmAcross the shoulders, below the harness slots
385 mmBetween the lap belt slots
920 mmOverall height of the shell
9 to 10 kgShell weight. Mirco publishes both figures
Across the shoulders600 mm
Across the hip bolsters490 mm
Base width420 mm
Between the lap slots385 mm
Side mount pattern290 mm

Drawn to scale at 0.55 pixels per millimetre, straight off Mirco’s RTX-7 dimension drawing. The green bar is the industry side mount pattern, shown for size only.

The rest of the drawing gives 645 mm of backrest, 620 mm from the base up to the shoulder slots, 615 mm of base length and 420 mm across the bottom of the base. The two side mount holes sit at 55 mm and 80 mm above the base line, so the seat carries a built in rake and the holes in your brackets are not level either.

That 600 mm shoulder figure is the headline. Mirco’s range chart runs from 490 mm on the Flyer to 600 mm on the GTM, and the RTX-7 matches the GTM at the top of the range. It is the Mirco for the driver who finds most buckets pinch at the shoulders.

A quick check before you make bracketsThe RTX-7 is not one of the twelve seats on Mirco’s range chart, and its own drawing marks the hole heights without marking the spacing between them. 290 mm is the industry pattern and Mirco publishes it for every seat it does chart, but measure the seat before you make a fixed bracket, or fit a multi hole bracket from the side mount range and let the adjustment absorb it.

Will it fit you

Wide at the shoulders, close at the waist. The cushions lift out if you need more room.

Mirco rates the RTX-7 for a driver up to 95 kg and 190 cm, and our fitting notes put it in the 32 to 36 inch waist band. Those two sets of numbers tell the same story from different ends: this is a seat with genuine room across the chest that still holds properly at the hips.

You want both ends working together. 385 mm between the lap slots and 490 mm across the hip bolsters locate your pelvis, and the 600 mm of shoulder above it gives a broad driver somewhere to sit instead of a bolster digging in. Taller and slimmer drivers fit it too, the shoulder support just sits a little flatter against you.

The lumbar and leg cushions are removable, which is the quickest way to find a bit more room without changing seat. If you are on the edge of the sizing, come and sit in it before the pair goes. Working out who fits what is my job here and it is far easier done in the seat than over email. I am Cameron, ask for me when you come in.

Questions worth answering before it sells

Is it really just the one pair?

Yes. Mirco built these as a limited edition, we took one pair, and we have not been offered more. The stock counter on the listing is live, so if it says in stock, they are still here.

Can I buy one seat on its own?

The listing is for the pair and we would rather they left together. If you genuinely only need one, ask us before they sell and we will give you a straight answer.

Does the blue stitch cost more?

No. The pair is £698 plus VAT, the same as the standard RTX-7 pair listing. You are paying for two seats, not for the edition.

Do they take the same mounts and frames as the standard RTX-7?

Yes. The shell is identical, side mount with two bolts a side. Fitting frames are vehicle specific, so tell us the car and we will confirm the frame and mounts to go with them.

What if I miss them?

The RTX-7 3D STI Edition runs black and blue trim as a stocked seat, and the standard RTX-7 3D is available in seven shell colours with over 250 trim combinations. Blue on black is orderable, it just will not be this exact factory edition.

Is the FIA approval current?

FIA 8855-1999 seats carry a five year life from the date of manufacture on the label, extendable by another five in most series. These are from a current production run, so there is plenty of paperwork left for club competition. Check your own series regulations if you run somewhere specific.

Where I would put them

A two seater track car that gets driven to the circuit, a rally build where the co driver deserves the same seat as the driver, or honestly the smartest sim rig in the country. Anywhere two matching seats sit side by side and get looked at as much as sat in.

The blue works with more cars than you would guess. On black trim it reads as a detail, not a colour scheme, so it does not need a blue car to make sense.

Final thoughts

Factory limited editions from Mirco do not come through often, and the ones that do tend to go to people who happened to ring that week. This pair is on the floor, the listing is live, and the price is the same as the standard pair.

If you want them, move. If you are not sure whether the size suits, the RTX-7 fitment write up covers the seat in more depth, or come in and sit in one while they are still here. The rest of the range is in Mirco FIA seats whenever you need it.
