Customer Question: Fitting The Mirco RTS-2 Abarth Edition In A Fiat 595

A 595 owner rang the showroom this week with a question we liked: he had found the Mirco RTS-2 Velour Abarth Edition on our site and wanted to know how to get it into his car. Cameron’s favourite kind of answer, because this is not a seat we squeeze into an Abarth. Mirco built this edition FOR the Abarth, embroidery and all, and the fitting recipe is one we hand over the counter often enough to know it by heart.
So here is that conversation written down: the seat, the four ways we would mount it depending on how you drive, and why the same recipe covers every side mount seat we can get into this car.

The seat Mirco built for this exact car
The RTS-2 Velour Abarth Edition is a fibreglass fixed back with FIA 8855-1999 approval, trimmed in diamond-stitched velour with the Abarth wordmark already embroidered on the backrest. It sits in our Big and Tall range, takes drivers either side of six foot and waists from 32 to 40 inches, and the shell comes in seven colours with name embroidery as an option if you want your own name under the scorpion’s.
Made for the car means more than embroidery. The shell shape suits the 595 cabin, the velour matches the interior the factory put in it, and the whole thing reads as an Abarth part the moment the door opens. Cameron has sold this seat to owners who walked in wanting something else entirely and changed their mind at the scorpion.
Here is the line from the showroom conversation worth repeating: this is the largest seat we can get into a 595. That wingspan is exactly why the customer wanted it, and it is also why the fitting recipe below matters, because a seat this wide leaves no room for guesswork on what goes underneath it.

The four ways we would mount it
Every route below hangs the seat on its side fixings; what changes is what sits under it and how you want to sit in the car. This is Garreth’s recommendation as he gives it across the counter, and it holds for any side mount motorsport seat in this car, not just the Mirco.

Choosing between them is mostly a question of you. The OMP base plate setup is the one Cameron fits in his head when a customer says motorsport: solid, fixed, the seat exactly where you bolted it, and the sliding version adds the runner kit for cars two people drive. The Planted frame is the answer when a taller driver rings, because it puts the seat as low as this car allows and buys back the headroom the roofline takes. And the Sparco subframes do the opposite: a slightly higher position that shorter drivers usually prefer for seeing over that tall Abarth dashboard.

Because the RTS-2 is the widest thing we can fit between the tunnel and the door card, everything narrower goes in on the same four routes. Common questions
Will it fit my 500 or 695 as well as the 595?
The 500, 595 and 695 Abarth share the same body and floor, and our 595 guide cards these same fittings across the family. Tell us the exact year when you order and we will double check the floor points before anything ships.
Is the price for one seat or a pair?
One seat, and most Abarth builds start with the driver side only. Fit the passenger side later and it takes the same route with the same parts, so nothing you buy now gets wasted.
Can I run a harness with it?
The shell takes 4 and 6 point harnesses through proper apertures, and the standard three point belt works with it for the road. If a harness is the plan, our harness without a cage guide is the honest place to start.
I am tall. Which route do I pick?
The Planted frame, no hesitation. It gives the lowest seating position available for this car, and the RTS-2 already suits drivers over six foot, so the pair together is our tall-driver answer for the 595.
What colours does it come in?
Seven shell colours, black or black and orange trim, and Mirco will embroider a name on it if you want yours on the headrest. The Abarth mark is standard on this edition.
