All New Sabelt Seats For 2022: GT-AM, GT-Pro, Spine And X-Pad

Sabelt seat news, December 2021

Sabelt has released its new seats for 2022, and they are now on our online store. The new line up covers the GT range and the X-Pad range, with different shell materials giving different weights and strengths, and all of them have full wrap around head and shoulder protection for serious competition.

Every one of the new seats is FIA approved. The GT-AM and the Spine go a step further, with the new FIA 8855-2021 approval.

  • New for 2022: the Sabelt GT-AM, GT-Pro, Spine and the X-Pad range
  • GT-AM and Spine: FIA 8855-2021, the newest seat standard
  • GT-Pro: carbon shell, FIA 8862-2009
  • GT-AM, GT-Pro and Spine come in M, L and XL shells
  • X-Pad: narrow head protection for tight cockpits, in fibreglass, carbon and a rallycross version

The GT-AM and GT-Pro

Both the GT-AM and the GT-Pro have deep bucketed sides and large wrap around shoulder and head supports, which give strong lateral support and help reduce the risk of injury. Both come in three shell sizes, M, L and XL.

The GT-AM is a fibreglass seat approved to the new FIA 8855-2021 standard. The GT-Pro is the top of the range, with a carbon fibre shell and FIA 8862-2009 approval, the highest FIA seat standard.

The Sabelt Spine

The Spine is a new concept from Sabelt. Its shell is built around a spine designed to take weight out of the seat, and it carries the FIA 8855-2021 approval too.

Like the GT seats, it has deep bucketed sides and large wrap around shoulder and head supports. High density foam pads on the inside add support and comfort.

Why FIA 8855-2021 matters

Most competition seats on the market carry FIA 8855-1999. The 8855-2021 standard is newer, with revised test criteria for impact protection. For anyone buying a seat to compete in over several seasons, a seat built to the newer standard is worth considering.

Always check which standard your class regulations name, and read the label on the seat against them.

Our updated Sabelt range

We have updated our existing Sabelt seats too, with up to date information, FIA homologations, prices and new bundle items at the checkout.

The GT-PAD uses removable pads for a more tailored fit, on an XL shell made from VTR for strength without much weight. The shell is trimmed in a hard wearing velvet fabric, so the pads attach and come off easily, and the way the pads are placed lets air flow around the driver to keep them cooler.

The X-Pad seats are designed for tight cockpits with limited space. The head protection is very narrow to help them fit. We have the X-Pad in carbon fibre, in fibreglass, and in a rallycross version with a surface made for wet and muddy conditions.

We have also bundled a top range Sabelt six point harness at the checkout with every new 2022 bucket seat. Our guide to fitting a motorsport harness covers the angles and anchor points. Garreth and the team cannot wait to get some of these new seats into the showroom.

The GT-Pro has a carbon fibre shell and is approved to FIA 8862-2009.

The GT-AM and GT-Pro come in M, L and XL shell sizes.

The X-Pad, which has very narrow head protection to help it fit small cars.
