Big and tall in a motorsport seat almost always means two different problems, not one. Waist and hip room is one issue, that is what most XL badging actually fixes. Overall height, headroom and how far back the seat pushes you before the harness pulls tight is a separate issue, and it is the one people forget until they are sat in the car with their helmet touching the roof.

What XL sizing actually changes
Most of the XL badged seats we stock are wider through the hips and shoulders, sized to a bigger waist band, not necessarily taller in the seatback or built for a longer torso. The Corbeau Pro Series X System 1 XL, for example, publishes a 36in-40in waist size and is listed as suited to drivers under 6ft, the same height band as the standard System 1. The Corbeau Revenge X System 1 XL is the same 36in-40in waist but is listed as suited to all heights. Read the individual listing rather than assuming XL covers both waist and height.
If you are tall instead of broad, the more useful figures are overall seat height and seat depth, and only Cobra publish these in millimetres on their GT-width listings. The Cobra Suzuka T GT is 900mm tall, 730mm deep and 590mm wide at the shoulder, a genuinely useful set of numbers if you are checking whether the seat will clear your roll cage or roofline before you buy. Corbeau, Sabelt, Takata and Sparco do not currently publish the same mm breakdown on the models in this category, they publish a waist size in inches instead.
Mounting height adds upEvery seat in this category is a side mount fixing, which sits you differently to a factory seat runner. For a tall driver this can be the difference between clearing the roofline and not. The Sparco Sprint L is the widest waist band we currently sell at 40in-42in, and at £237.00 it is also the cheapest seat in this comparison, a steel-framed fixed-back design instead of fibreglass. If you want more support around the hips at a similar waist size, both Corbeau XL variants publish a 36in-40in band, with the Revenge X rated for all driver heights and the Pro Series X specifically for drivers under 6ft.
Weight of the seat itself is only published on some of these models, the Sabelt X-Pad Rallycross at 12kg and the Corbeau Pro Series X System 1 XL at 8.5kg are the two we can confirm. None of the models in this category publish a maximum driver weight capacity. If that figure matters for your build, call before ordering instead of assuming a number that is not on the listing.
