Why the 2025 date matters
An FIA 8855-1999 seat is homologated for five years from the date it was made, printed on the label on the seat. That date, not the day you bought it, decides how long the seat stays legal for competition. Our listings note that the period can normally be extended by two years.
Buying a seat with a 2025 label at the start of the 2025 season gets you the whole five years of use from it, which is worth having if you are planning a car for several seasons.
Seats with head supports
The Revenge X and the Revolution are Corbeau’s seats with head protection wings, for competition cars where the extra support around the head and shoulders is wanted.
Revenge X. Deep side supports running up into the head wings, energy absorbing foam, and five harness slots that take a four or six point harness. The standard seat suits a 32 to 36 inch waist and drivers under 6ft; the XL suits a 36 to 40 inch waist and drivers of any height.
Revolution. Its head wings are shaped to keep your peripheral vision open, which is why many drivers who want head protection choose it. It is HANS friendly and takes a six point harness only.
Head supports do restrict how far you can turn your head and see around you, so these seats are best in cars built for track or competition, not ones that do many road miles.
On the display, the difference between the two head support shapes is easy to see. The Revenge wraps further around the head; the Revolution leaves more open at the sides.
Garreth's advice is to sit in both with your helmet on if you can. The shape that suits you depends as much on your shoulders and the way you sit as on the numbers.

Seats without head supports
For cars that also see road use, or cockpits without room for head wings, the Pro Series X, Sprint X and RXC X give FIA homologation in a shell that stops at shoulder height.
Sprint X. Corbeau’s entry point into FIA seats, redesigned in 2018 with an improved shell layup, high density foam and five harness slots. It suits sprints, hillclimbs and club rallies where the car does not have the headroom for a head protection seat.
Pro Series X. Similar clearance to the Sprint X, with stronger mounting points using 10mm cap head bolt inserts and a HANS zone. It is a practical choice in tight, caged cars.
RXC X. Offered in three shells, fibreglass, Kevlar and carbon, each lighter and stiffer than the last in the same shape.
In standard width these suit a 32 to 36 inch waist, and the XL versions a 36 to 40 inch waist, all for drivers under 6ft.

Fitting a Corbeau FIA seat
All of these seats are side mount and are sold as the seat only, so you will need a pair of side mounts and a frame for the car. Corbeau side mount seats now use M10 fixings, while M2 Motorsport and PCI Racing frame kits have side mounts drilled for M8, so on those kits the holes need drilling out slightly for M10, a small modification rather than a straight bolt-on. Tell us the car and the seat and we will put together the right mounting parts.
Colour is the other choice to make. As well as black, the shells can be finished in blue, grey, orange, purple, red, white, yellow or a RAL colour of your choice, made to order.
How long is a 2025 dated Corbeau FIA seat valid?
Five years from the date on the label, and the listings say this can normally be extended by two years.
Which Corbeau seats have head supports?
The Revenge X and the Revolution. The Pro Series X, Sprint X and RXC X do not.
What is the difference between standard and XL?
The XL shell is wider at the hips, for a 36 to 40 inch waist instead of 32 to 36.
Do Corbeau side mount seats fit M2 or PCI frames?
Not straight on any more. Corbeau side mount seats now use M10 fixings, so the M8 holes on M2 or PCI side mounts need drilling out slightly, a small modification. Otherwise use Corbeau compatible side mounts.
Can I have a coloured shell?
Yes. Corbeau make the shells to order in a range of colours or a RAL code.
