Retro means retro

The GT4 Retro is a Sixties-style low-back shell and it should go in a car from that world: classic Minis, Anglias, Cortinas, early Escorts, MGs. It is the lightest seat on this page, which tempts people building modern track cars. Resist that. A low-back period shell in a modern car is the wrong concept, not a clever weight saving.

The cheapest tartan seat we list

490, against 300 for the plain GT4 Retro. The 190 buys genuine wool tartan, cut and trimmed in house to one of eight designs. It is also the least expensive way into the whole tartan range: the Classic is 530, the Alpine 555, the GT8 High-back 575, and the FIA shells start at 740.

Low back, so know what you are getting

The shell stops at the shoulder blades. It is period correct and it looks right, and it holds you less than a high-back. If you want more support in the same era of styling, the GT8 High-back is the one.

FIA bucket seats are built to order, typically 3 to 7 days from the day you order. Kevlar and carbon shells take longer, so ask us if you are working to a date.

Reclining sport seats are also made to order in your chosen trim, and run to a similar timescale.
