The sixth-generation Honda Civic, sold in the UK from 1996 to 2000, built its motorsport reputation around the EK9 Type R. The B16B in the EK9 is a 185bhp naturally aspirated 1.6 that revs to 8400rpm and came with a Helical limited-slip differential as standard. These are the M2 Motorsport direct fit sub-frames for the Honda Civic EK and EJ, part number M2-20269-S000/S010. The frame replaces the standard runners, bolts directly to the OEM floor mounting points, and needs no drilling. Steel, powder-coated black, with 290mm side-mounted captive holes. A generation earlier than the EP3, the EK platform is lighter and has the characteristically narrow cockpit that Honda used through the VTEC era. Many owners running these cars in club sprints or time attack fit a fixed-back bucket specifically to deal with the harness routing, since the standard belts on a cage-equipped EK can be awkward to exit. The lower seat position from the M2 frame also helps headroom if you have added a half cage.
Seats with 290mm side holes fit directly: Recaro, OMP, Sparco, Cobra, Corbeau, Bride, Takata, MOMO and the rest. Under-seat base mount seats need the M2 adaption bars alongside this frame.
