The SEAT Altea is an unusual car in the Volkswagen Group family. It was built from 2004 to 2013 on the PQ35 platform shared with the Golf Mk5 and Jetta, but its layout is more upright than a hatchback and it was sold specifically as a compact MPV with proper rear headroom. The extended Altea XL added body length, and the Altea Freetrack brought raised ride height and a four-wheel-drive option. All variants share the same floor design.
Part number 868316-1967 is the Recaro direct-fit sub-frame for the Altea. It bolts to the factory chassis mounting points on the floor and integrates fore-aft running gear so the seat retains its length adjustment. Recaro engineered this to the specific PQ35 floor geometry of the Altea, not the Golf or Jetta, because while the platform is shared, the pedal and tunnel positions differ between body styles.
Owners fitting a Recaro seat to the Altea tend to be doing so for long-distance comfort rather than track use. The car’s MPV proportions meant it was a popular family carry-all, and many are still covering serious mileage. A well-bolstered Recaro Sport or Sportster CS changes that kind of driving considerably.
This sub-frame is made for Recaro seats only. It fits base-mountable bucket seats and reclining sport seats but not side-mounted competition shells, which need separate adaptor hardware. Pricing is per seat, so two sub-frames for both front positions. Let us know the Recaro model you are using and we will confirm fitment before you order.
