The Opel Kadett E ran from 1984 to 1993 and is the direct ancestor of the Astra. It was sold in saloon, hatchback, estate, and convertible forms. The Ascona C, made from 1981 to 1988, is a slightly larger saloon that shared some design logic with the Kadett E though it preceded the E generation and used a different platform. Recaro produced a single sub-frame that covers both cars, which suggests the front seat fixing positions are compatible across the two.
Part number 684109 covers the Opel Kadett E and Ascona C. It attaches at the factory floor fixing positions without drilling and provides fore-aft sliding travel for the Recaro seat. The Kadett E platform uses 1980s Opel mounting geometry that is specific to this generation and is not shared with the subsequent Astra F.
Both cars have a following among classic car enthusiasts. The Kadett E GSi and the Ascona 400 competition homologation version are particularly noted, and a Recaro seat is a period-correct upgrade in cars from this era. Recaro was heavily associated with German performance cars of the 1980s and the factory fitment on many contemporary Opels used their seats.
This sub-frame fits Recaro brand seats only and covers base-mountable bucket seats and reclining sport seats. Side-mounted competition shells need separate adaptor bars. The price is for one frame, one seat. Tell us your Recaro model when ordering.
