Why We Recommend the Corbeau SVR for Low-Roof Sports Cars
Seat buying guide, low-roof cars
When someone needs a reclining sport seat for a car with a low roof, the Corbeau SVR is one of the first we suggest. It is shorter than many recliners, it is trimmed in hard-wearing vinyl, and it has two base mount patterns, which makes it easier to fit than most.
That combination suits classics, convertibles and small coupes, where a tall seat back can push you into the roof lining or force you to sit reclined just to clear it. Here is what the SVR is, the cars we have fitted it to, its dimensions, and how it mounts.
- The Corbeau Sportline SVR: a steel framed reclining sport seat in black vinyl
- 900mm tall, 530mm at the shoulders, 500mm at the base, in the figures we work to
- Base mount, with both 291mm by 330mm and 345mm by 271mm patterns
- Road and track rated, not FIA homologated
- Listed for all heights and a 32 to 38 inch waist
- We have fitted it to Classic Minis, Audi TT Mk1s, Mazda MX-5s and Honda S2000s

The Corbeau SVR: key features
The SVR is a reclining sport seat on a steel frame, trimmed in black vinyl that looks good and stands up to everyday use. The recline lets you set the back angle for long drives and daily use, and it tilts forward for access to the back seats.
- A shorter back than many recliners, for low roofs
- Vinyl trim that is easy to clean and hard wearing
- Reclining back
- Sculpted sides for a snug hold, the most shaped of the Corbeau Sportline recliners we sell
- Base mount, no side mounts needed
- Road and track rated, not FIA homologated

Dimensions: how compact is it?
| Measurement | Corbeau SVR |
|---|---|
| Total height | 900mm |
| Shoulder width | 530mm |
| Hip width | 290mm |
| Base width | 500mm |
| Depth, front to back | about 630mm |
| Base mount patterns | 291mm x 330mm and 345mm x 271mm |
The number that matters here is the height. At 900mm, the SVR is shorter than many reclining sport seats, so you keep your headroom in a tight cabin, and the seat back does not press into the roof or make you sit further reclined than you want to.
The narrow hips and 500mm base help it fit between a tight centre console and the door card too. Our listing gives it for all heights and a 32 to 38 inch waist. Always measure your car, including the height from the floor to the roof lining, before ordering.
Cars we have fitted it to
We have fitted the SVR to a good range of cars, and one of the most common is the Classic Mini. Our Mini installs have used:
- the Cobra direct fit Classic Mini subframe, which bolts to the Mini’s original seat mounting points and comes with sliding runners
- Endurance Motorsport adaption bars
That uses the SVR’s 291mm pattern and gives a sliding base that bolts into the original seat mounts. Cobra design their frames around their own seats, so with a Corbeau seat we confirm the complete stack for the car before it goes out.
Beyond the Mini, we have helped customers fit the SVR into an Audi TT Mk1, the Mazda MX-5 in NA and NB form, and the Honda S2000, all cars where cabin height is tight.
Installation options and bolt patterns
The SVR is base mounted only, and its base has two sets of holes:
- 345mm by 271mm: the pattern used by many Sparco, OMP and Corbeau subframes and runners
- 291mm by 330mm: the narrower pattern used by Cobra frames, including the Classic Mini frame
Having both gives you a much wider choice of frames, whether you use a vehicle-specific subframe or adapt an existing base. As with any Corbeau fitting, match the frame to one of the seat’s patterns; our guide to seat bolt patterns explains them.
Why Corbeau
Corbeau are known for seats that balance comfort, quality and ease of fitting. The SVR is a good example: a road seat that holds you properly without the height, bulk or cost of a competition seat. The same shell also comes in a Tartan Edition, trimmed to order in a choice of eight tartans, and with optional heating and an inflatable lumbar support.
We have the SVR in the showroom to sit in and compare with our other recliners. Garreth’s advice for a low-roof car is to sit in it wearing what you drive in, and to bring your car’s floor to roof measurement. If you are comparing recliners, our guide to reclining seat mechanisms explains the two types of adjuster.
