Where MOMO comes from
MOMO began in 1964, when the Italian racing driver Gianpiero Moretti had a local craftsman make a steering wheel for his own race car. Other drivers wanted one, Moretti started making them, and the company took its name from Moretti and Monza.
The steering wheel is still what most people know MOMO for, but the same racing background runs through its seats. The ones we list are competition seats, built for track, rally and other motorsport where an FIA approved seat is needed.
The updated MOMO range
Every seat in the range has a fibreglass shell, is approved to FIA 8855-1999, is HANS compatible and has five harness openings. All of them are side mounted and come in black.
The Start and the Super Cup are the more open designs, with no wrap around head support. The Start has integrated lumbar support and a fixed leg cushion. The Daytona and Daytona Evo are designed for rally use, with a shaped upper section that limits how far the helmet can move sideways.

Size is where the range is useful. The Super Cup and Daytona Evo come in standard and XL, and the Daytona goes up to XXL, so there is a MOMO shell for most builds. The covers use MOMO’s Airnet fabric, which is quick drying, and on the Daytona XL the fabric is self extinguishing.
Fitting your MOMO seat
Because every MOMO in the range is side mounted, you need a pair of side mounts and something to fix them to. For many cars we recommend M2 direct fit subframes, which bolt to the car’s original seat mounting points. M2 subframes are listed for cars such as the VW Golf Mk7, the Subaru Impreza GRB, the Nissan GT-R and the Honda Civic EK and EJ.
Garreth’s advice is to sit in the seat before you choose a size, because the fit at the hips and shoulders matters more than the label. Come and try one, or send us your height and waist size with the car and we will suggest a seat and the frames to go with it. If you already have a seat and are not sure what it needs, our guide to working out what a seat bolts to is a useful read.
