Top 5 reclining seat choices for your Seat Cupra, including our fitting guide

The Cupra badge means the performance version, and anyone fitting a Cobra recliner to one knows they are taking the driving side of the car seriously. The factory seat does the job. It does not support you through the bends the way a properly bolstered recliner does, and if the car is going to a circuit it is the first thing worth changing. The Cobra subframe bolts to the factory floor mounting points with no drilling, the runner is included in the package, and every seat in this guide sits on the same 291mm pattern.

One frame covers every seat here. The Cobra subframe includes the runner, and every Cobra and Corbeau recliner on this page bolts straight to it. If you have been putting this job off because the fitting looked complicated, it is not.

  • One Cobra subframe for the Cupra, runner included in the package
  • All five seats in this guide fit the same frame on the same 291mm pattern
  • Every seat listed is 4 point harness compatible
  • Bolts to the factory mounting points, no drilling on a standard floor

The frame route into a Cupra

There is one fitting frame for the Cupra and it covers every seat in this guide. The Cobra subframe (14486) bolts to the factory seat mounting points with nothing drilled or cut. It includes a 291mm runner, which is what the Cobra recliners bolt to directly. Corbeau recliners are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm patterns, so they sit on the same Cobra runner without any adaption. The frame is priced per side. A pair of seats means two frames in your basket.

Part 14486, £231.66 inc VAT per side. Runner included. Accepts all five seats in this guide on the same 291mm pattern. Add two to your basket for a pair of seats.

The number that decides it

Every reclining seat we sell bolts down through a base mount pattern. Cobra recliners use 291mm x 330mm, which is what the Cobra subframe is built around. Corbeau drills their recliners for both 291mm and 345mm, so they sit on the Cobra runner just as well as they would on a Sparco one. All five seats below go on the same frame, and none of them needs a runner purchase on top of the subframe.

Pick the seat firstThe frame decision is easy once you know which seat you want, because they all go on the same Cobra subframe. If you are torn between two options, Cameron can talk you through the combination for your specific car and driving use. Ring us on 0115 9893488 or drop us a message.

Corbeau PSR: the sensible starting point

At £558 for the pair, the PSR is the most-bought Corbeau we list and it is not close. Steel frame, cloth trim, full recline and tilt, road and track approved. It is what people fit to a project car they drive every day, a Cupra that does the odd circuit evening, or a car they want to feel more purposeful inside without spending Misano money. The PSR does not grip you through the shoulders the way the Cobra Daytona does, but it holds you properly without being aggressive about it. For a car that mixes regular road use with occasional circuit work, that balance is usually the right one.

Corbeau list the PSR as fitting all waist sizes and all heights. In practice, slim to medium builds get the most out of the bolstering. If you are at 38 inches waist and above, ask us before ordering.

  • £558.00 inc VAT for the pair, includes driver and passenger seats
  • All waist sizes and all heights listed by Corbeau
  • Black cloth trim with black stitching, road and track approved
  • Both 291mm and 345mm patterns drilled, fits Cobra runner directly
  • Optional heating and double-locking runners available to add

Cobra Daytona: the support pick

The Daytona is the widest recliner Cobra make. 580mm across the shoulders, against 540mm for the Le Mans, and the deepest bolsters in the Cobra range. If the PSR is the sensible daily choice, the Daytona is what I point people at when the Cupra goes to the circuit with any regularity. Your body stays put, your arms do the steering, and the bolsters do not go soft after a few track evenings the way a foam-only seat often does.

Each Daytona is built to order through Cobra’s Signature system: spacer fabric, vinyl or leather in one or two colours, contrast stitching, heating or lumbar if you want them. At 865mm tall it has enough room in most Cupras without pressing the headlining. The Tartan Edition pairs black vinyl outers with a tartan centre and is ready to order as it stands, which is the option if you want the bespoke look without speccing your own material.

  • £599.00 inc VAT, built to order in your choice of trim
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights, 580mm wide, 865mm tall, 13.5kg
  • Signature trim options including heating and lumbar
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern, fits the Cobra subframe directly

Cobra Le Mans: the touring pick

The Le Mans is the other end of the Cobra recliner range from the Daytona. Same 291mm mounting, same 540mm width, but the backrest is orthopaedic rather than bolstered. It supports the length of your back instead of gripping your ribs, which makes it the right seat for a Cupra that covers motorway miles as well as circuit days. The bolsters are present enough to be useful but not so aggressive that they wear you out over distance.

It is built to order through the same Signature system as the Daytona. If you want the period look without the Cobra branding on the centre panels, the Le Mans Heritage swaps those panels for a fluted design and removes the logo entirely. That version works well if you want something that sits quietly inside a modified interior without shouting about itself.

  • £619.00 inc VAT, built to order
  • Le Mans Heritage from £649.00 for fluted panels and no branding
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights, 540mm wide, 820mm tall, 13.4kg
  • 4 point harness compatible, heating and lumbar available
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern, fits the Cobra subframe directly

Corbeau Sportline RRS Low Base: the step-up pair

The RRS Low Base is a step up from the PSR in finish and look. It swaps cloth for vinyl and adds integrated headrests. The Low Base variant drops the seating position below the standard RRS. The lower seating position is part of the reason you are doing this job, and most people choose it regardless of how much headroom they have above them.

The RRS has Corbeau’s classic sculpted backrest shape rather than the flatter SVR profile, which gives better lateral support for track use. The pair comes as matching driver and passenger seats, which is the reason people choose it over the PSR when they want the interior to look right as well as work properly.

  • £996.00 inc VAT for the pair in black vinyl
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights, integrated headrests
  • Low Base drops seating position below the standard RRS
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • Both 291mm and 345mm patterns drilled, fits Cobra runner directly

Cobra Misano Anniversary: the premium pick

The Misano is Cobra’s flagship recliner, and the one Garreth points at when someone wants the interior to feel finished. Diamond quilted cross stitching on the centre panels and a carbon backrest. The Signature trim system covers any one or two colour leather combination. At 11.5kg it is the lightest Cobra in this guide despite having the largest shell, which is unusual and worth noting. The tradeoff is the lead time: Cobra build each one to order and allow 4 to 6 weeks.

At 885mm tall and 590mm across, the Misano takes up more of the Cupra’s interior than the other seats in this guide. It is the seat people are least willing to get out of when they come in, and it is priced accordingly. If the budget reaches it and you are keeping the car long term, it is the one worth spending on.

  • £1,649.00 inc VAT, made to order, allow 4 to 6 weeks
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights, 590mm wide, 885mm tall, 11.5kg
  • Diamond quilted leather, carbon backrest, heating and lumbar available
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern, fits the Cobra subframe directly

Getting it bolted down

The Cobra subframe (14486) bolts to the Cupra’s factory seat mounting points, so there is no drilling on a standard floor. The 291mm runner is included in the frame package, which means none of the five seats in this guide needs a separate runner purchase. Frame priced per side: a pair of seats means two frames. Torque the floor bolts properly when the seat is in, and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a recliner usually puts the buckle somewhere different to the factory seat. Worth a check with the seat in place before everything is tightened down.

Common questions

Does the Cobra frame include the runner, or do I need to order it separately?

The Cobra subframe (14486) includes the 291mm runner. For any of the five seats in this guide, you buy the frame and you have everything you need for the seat to bolt in. No separate runner on top.

Will the Misano fit with headroom to spare in the Cupra?

The Misano is 885mm tall and uses a low base mount, so headroom depends on the specific body style and whether you run a sunroof. If you are over 6 feet tall, ask us before ordering and we will work through the combination with you.

Will a reclining sport seat pass an MOT?

All five seats in this guide are road approved and will not cause an MOT issue on their own. The seat belt buckle position is worth a check after fitting, since a recliner often puts it somewhere new. If you plan to run a harness instead of the factory belt, the MOT position changes and you need a harness bar or cage to route the shoulder straps properly.

Which seat suits a broader build in the Cupra?

The Cobra Daytona is the widest recliner in this guide at 580mm across the shoulders. The Le Mans is 540mm. Both Corbeau seats list as fitting all waist sizes, but at 38 inches and above it is worth calling us before ordering. Ring 0115 9893488 with your measurements and we will give you a straight answer.

Can I fit one seat now and add the second later?

Yes. The frame is priced per side and both orders ship independently. The seat options and prices are the same whether you buy one frame or two. Some people fit the driver's seat first, drive it for a few months, and add the passenger seat once they are certain of the choice. Just note that the Corbeau PSR and RRS Low Base are listed as pairs, so the pair price already covers both seats.

What I would actually buy

The PSR pair is where most Cupra owners should start. It does most of the job for a sensible price, and Corbeau’s quality at that price point is hard to argue with. If the car goes to the circuit with any regularity, or if you want more shoulder support than the PSR gives, the Daytona is the step up that makes the most sense: wider, deeper bolsters, same straightforward fitting route.

The Misano is the one worth spending on if you are keeping the car and you want the seat to feel right rather than just better than the factory unit. The Le Mans sits between them if long-distance comfort matters more than grip. The RRS Low Base pair is the right call if you want matching seats with integrated headrests and a more finished look than the PSR.

If you are between two of these or want to talk through size and fit for your specific car, ring us on 0115 9893488. Cameron knows these seats well and will work through the options before you spend anything.
