Most Sportage owners who come to us are not chasing track times. They drive the car properly, on long trips and fast roads, and the standard seats have quietly become the worst part of the experience. The bolsters in the OEM unit look fine at twenty thousand miles. By fifty, the foam in the base cushion has packed down and the side support you thought you had is mostly gone. A reclining sport seat restores that support without asking anything of the passengers or removing the adjustable backrest you use every morning.
The seat height is worth thinking about too. In a Sportage, sitting elevated is part of the deal. A fitting frame will lower you by varying amounts depending on the seat, and in a 4×4 that is not always welcome. The Cobra frame for this car sits fairly close to the original runner height, but if headroom is already tight, measure from the top of your head to the roofline before ordering. The Daytona is the seat we quote most often on a first Sportage enquiry. The side bolsters are deep enough to hold you through a fast corner, and the seat is easy to live with every day, which matters on a car with this much road use. It sits slightly upright compared to the Le Mans, which works in a 4×4 where you are already elevated. There are no trim options to choose from on the standard Daytona, which keeps the decision simple.
The PSR is listed as a pair, which changes the maths if you are doing both seat positions. At £558.00 inc VAT for both seats you are spending less than on a single Daytona, and both bolt straight to the Cobra frame on the runners that come with it. The seat itself is simpler than the Sportline range: cloth trim only, no heated option, and the bolsters are broad rather than sculpted. For a Sportage that covers motorway distances as well as fast roads, that is a reasonable balance. If two positions are being done in one job, this is where most people start the conversation.
The Le Mans has deeper shoulder and thigh bolsters than the Daytona, and you feel the difference mid-corner. It is also available through Cobra’s Signature programme, which means choosing the trim material, adding contrast stitching, and specifying heating or lumbar if the car is in winter use or covers long runs. The Le Mans Heritage is the off-the-shelf alternative if you want the period look without speccing your own. Either version uses the same 291mm pattern as the Daytona, goes on the Cobra frame with the included runners, and at £619.00 it is not a large step up from the Daytona for considerably more seat.
The RRS is Corbeau’s main recliner line and a step up from the PSR in backrest support and overall finish. The shoulder sections are more sculpted and the profile is sportier without crossing into fixed-bucket territory, which keeps it usable on longer drives. It is sold as a pair at £984.00 inc VAT, and there is a heated version if the Sportage is in year-round use. Drivers who have sat in an RRS tend to come back to it: the shape suits a car used on fast roads as readily as on the motorway, and the dual bolt pattern means it bolts to the Cobra frame without any changes.
The Misano Anniversary is for the Sportage that is being done properly. It is a heavier, more substantial build than either of the Cobras below it in the range, with leather trim as standard and optional heating and lumbar. The backrest profile holds you more firmly than the Daytona or Le Mans, and the build quality carries through to how it ages: this is not a seat you will want to revisit in a few years. At £1,649.00 it sits well clear of the other four, but if the car is getting other work done, it is the right place to spend rather than come back to it later.
