The Sparco Circuit and Circuit II are two of the most popular head support motorsport seats in the Sparco range, and they are also two seats we get asked about constantly in-store. At first glance they look almost identical, which is where a lot of the confusion comes from, but once you sit in both seats side by side, the differences become much clearer.
Both seats are designed for serious motorsport and heavy track day use. They feature integrated head support, deep bucketed shells, aggressive shoulder bolsters, and the latest FIA approvals. They are proper race seats built for drivers who need maximum support and protection inside the car.
The biggest difference between the two is size. The Sparco Circuit II is noticeably larger internally and externally compared to the standard Circuit. This makes the Circuit II much better suited to broader drivers, but also slightly more difficult to fit into tighter vehicle interiors.
Because we stock and display both seats at our showroom, customers are able to directly compare the two in person. This is one of the best ways to understand the sizing differences, especially around the shoulders and hips, which can be difficult to judge accurately from photos alone.
A lot of customers initially assume the Circuit II is simply a slightly updated version of the standard Circuit, but in reality, the overall seating position and fit feel very different once you are sitting in them. The extra shoulder width and hip room in the Circuit II are immediately noticeable, especially for broader drivers who may feel restricted in tighter motorsport seats.
The standard Circuit remains the more compact option and is generally easier to fit into smaller cars where cockpit space is limited. The Circuit II, while offering much more room internally, starts pushing towards the upper size limits for many vehicles once roll cages, door bars, and centre tunnel clearance are taken into account.
This is why in-store testing becomes so important with seats like these. Looking at dimensions online helps, but physically sitting in both seats gives customers a much better understanding of how each shell shape supports the body differently.
Both seats are full-on motorsport products and are best suited to drivers participating in:
The integrated head support design is one of the biggest reasons drivers choose the Circuit range over Sparco’s more traditional bucket seats. In full cage cars especially, the additional protection around the helmet area becomes a major safety advantage by helping reduce side-to-side head movement during impacts or aggressive driving.
Although these seats are extremely aggressive in design, they still maintain a high-quality finish throughout. The velour trim, detailed Sparco stitching, anti-wear materials, and lightweight shell construction all help give them a premium motorsport feel both visually and physically.
For customers deciding between the two, this guide will break down the key differences in fitment, driver sizing, installation, and real-world vehicle compatibility to help make choosing the correct Circuit seat much easier.
The Circuit range is designed for drivers who want a higher level of protection compared to standard bucket seats. The integrated head support design provides much more upper-body stability and additional protection during motorsport use.
One of the biggest advantages of head support seats like the Circuit and Circuit II is the added protection around the helmet area. In cars fitted with full roll cages, this becomes extremely important as it helps reduce the chance of your head moving sideways into cage bars during impacts or aggressive driving.
Sparco has built a very strong reputation in motorsport over decades, which is one of the reasons so many drivers trust the brand for serious safety equipment. The Circuit range combines modern FIA safety standards with lightweight shell construction and aggressive driver support.
Why drivers choose the Sparco Circuit range
The standard Sparco Circuit QRT is the smaller of the two seats and suits drivers who want a compact but aggressive motorsport seat.
It features a rounded upper headrest design, which is one of the easiest ways to visually identify it compared to the Circuit II. The seat uses Sparco’s lightweight QRT fibreglass shell construction to reduce weight while maintaining rigidity and strength.
The shape is very focused around driver support. The deep bucketed design, high leg bolsters, and wrap-around shoulders hold the driver firmly in place during heavy braking and cornering.
The velour trim material gives excellent grip while also improving comfort during longer driving sessions. Sparco branding is stitched into both the front and rear sections of the seat, giving it a premium motorsport finish.
Despite being the smaller model, the Circuit still provides serious support and protection for most average-sized drivers.
Key features
The Sparco Circuit II QRT keeps the same overall motorsport design but increases the internal dimensions significantly for larger drivers.
The most obvious visual difference is the upper headrest shape. Unlike the rounded top of the standard Circuit, the Circuit II features a more pointed upper design which helps separate the two seats visually.
Internally, the Circuit II offers noticeably more room around both the hips and shoulders. This makes a huge difference for broader drivers who may feel restricted in the standard Circuit seat.
The harness slots also sit slightly higher on the Circuit II, making it more suitable for taller drivers whose shoulders sit higher in the seat.
Like the standard Circuit, the Circuit II uses lightweight QRT fibreglass construction and features anti-wear material in the high-contact areas to improve durability over time.
It remains a full motorsport-focused seat with very aggressive support and is best suited to competition cars and heavy track use.
Key features
One of the biggest reasons customers compare these seats is driver fitment. While they look similar externally, the internal dimensions feel very different once you sit in them.
We have measured both seats ourselves at our showroom, and the two most important measurements are around the shoulders and hip area.
The standard Circuit provides a tighter and more focused fit, while the Circuit II opens up significantly for broader drivers.
Main measurements
Driver fitment
The Circuit II increases both shoulder and hip room, creating a much more accommodating fit for larger drivers.
This extra room makes a noticeable difference immediately when sitting in the seat, especially around the lower body and upper torso.
Main measurements
Driver fitment
Before choosing either seat, it is very important to measure the interior of your car carefully.
Head support seats are generally much wider around the shoulders than standard bucket seats, so clearance around door cards, B-pillars, and roll cage bars becomes critical.
The Circuit II in particular can become difficult to fit in smaller vehicles due to its increased shoulder width.
Things to measure before installation
Vehicle modifications can also affect available space. Roll cages, stripped interiors, and custom door cards can all change what will physically fit inside the car.
| Feature | Sparco Circuit | Sparco Circuit II |
| Shoulder Width | 570 mm | 600 mm |
| Hip Width | 340 mm | 370 mm |
| Base Width | 390 mm | 430 mm |
| Overall Height | 900 mm | 900 mm |
| Harness Slot Height | Standard | Slightly Higher |

We currently stock and display both the Sparco Circuit and Circuit II at our showroom, ready for customers to try in person.
This is extremely useful because sizing can be very difficult to judge online, especially with head support seats where internal dimensions matter so much. Two seats can look almost identical in photos, but feel completely different once you are actually sitting in them.
This becomes especially important for broader or taller drivers who may sit right between the sizing of both seats. The Circuit II may only sound slightly larger on paper, but the additional space around the hips and shoulders is very noticeable in person.
We also find that customers often underestimate how aggressive head support seats feel compared to standard bucket seats. Testing them in-store helps drivers better understand visibility, shoulder positioning, and how much support these seats provide before committing to a full installation.
Another major advantage of in-store testing is being able to compare these seats against other Sparco models we have on display. This helps customers decide whether they genuinely need a full head support seat like the Circuit range, or whether a more open design would suit their driving and vehicle setup better.
Both seats are also available for:
For serious motorsport seats like these, physically sitting in them first is one of the best ways to make sure you choose the correct size and shape for both your body and your vehicle.
Like most composite shell motorsport seats, both the Sparco Circuit and Circuit II are side-mounted only.
They use the common 290 mm side mount bolt spacing from front to back, which works with most universal side mounts.
The base widths differ slightly:
Once side mounts are attached, both seats work with the common 345 mm base bolt pattern used by most aftermarket seat subframes and vehicle-specific frames from brands like:
For adjustable setups, both seats also work with standard 345 mm sliding runner kits.
However, because these are serious motorsport seats designed for heavy track use and racing, we generally do not recommend sliding runners unless the car is primarily road-driven.
The large integrated head supports can also make visibility more difficult on public roads, which is another reason these seats are better suited to track and motorsport applications.
The Sparco Circuit and Circuit II are both excellent FIA-approved motorsport seats designed for serious track and competition use. They share the same aggressive design, integrated head support, and lightweight QRT shell construction, but the biggest difference comes down to size.
The standard Circuit is the better option for average-sized drivers and tighter vehicle interiors where space is limited. The Circuit II offers much more room around the shoulders and hips, making it a far better choice for broader or taller drivers.
One thing we have noticed from displaying both seats in-store is that the size difference feels much bigger in person than it does online. Sitting in both seats side by side makes it much easier to understand which one suits your body shape better.
Vehicle fitment is also very important. The larger Circuit II can become difficult to fit in smaller cars, especially once roll cages and door bars are added into the setup. This is why we always recommend measuring your interior before buying.
Because of the large head support bolsters, these seats are not the most practical for regular road driving, especially when it comes to visibility.
Overall, both seats offer excellent support, safety, and build quality. The choice mainly comes down to your body size, your vehicle space, and how much room you need inside the seat.
