Sparco Circuit II Carbon Bucket Seats Arrive at GSM Performance
Showroom news, January 2025
A pair of Sparco Circuit II Carbon bucket seats came through the showroom this week for a quality check before going out to their new owner. They are one of the lighter FIA seats Sparco make, and it was good to have a proper look at a pair before they left.
Here is what we check on a seat like this, what the Circuit II Carbon is, and how it compares with the rest of the Circuit range.
- A pair of Sparco Circuit II Carbon seats, checked in the showroom before dispatch
- Carbon fibre shell, fixed back, side mount
- Homologated to FIA 8855-1999
- Built-in head protection wings
- Suits a 32 to 40 inch waist and drivers of any height
- Also made in fibreglass, and as the smaller Circuit

What we check before a seat goes out
Every seat that comes through us gets a look over before it is sent. On a carbon seat like this, that means checking the shell for any marks or damage from transit, making sure the trim is fitted properly with no defects, checking that the harness slots are clean and clear, and reading the FIA label so the customer knows the date the homologation runs from.
It takes a few minutes per seat, and it means the seats arrive ready to fit.
The Sparco Circuit II Carbon
The Circuit II is Sparco’s QRT shell for drivers with a bigger torso, and it is the seat to look at if a smaller shell squeezes you through the ribs. This version is built in carbon fibre, which makes the shell stiffer and lighter than the fibreglass one. It deflects less under side loads, so it keeps its shape and holds you better, and there is less weight to carry.
It is a fixed back seat, homologated to FIA 8855-1999, with built-in head protection wings. It takes a four or six point harness. Our listing gives it for a 32 to 36 or 36 to 40 inch waist, and Sparco list it for all heights.
From the front the carbon and fibreglass Circuit II look the same, with the same wings, badge and cushions. The difference shows on the outside of the shell, where the carbon weave is visible.
The carbon costs a good deal more than the fibreglass. Garreth's advice is that it makes most sense where weight really counts; on a club car, the fibreglass Circuit II gives the same shape and the same approval for much less.

Not a road seat
The Circuit II is built for competition, and we do not recommend it for a car that is used on public roads. The head protection wings that do so much in an impact also limit how far you can turn your head, which makes junctions and traffic harder work. It is a fixed back seat with no adjustment beyond the cushions, so it is not made for long, relaxed drives either.
For a car that is mainly driven on the road, a seat without head wings is a better choice, and we are happy to suggest one.
The rest of the Circuit range
Circuit II QRT in fibreglass. The same shape and FIA 8855-1999 approval as the carbon seat, at a much lower price, for drivers who do not need to save every kilo.
Circuit. The smaller shell, for drivers with a slimmer build who want a snugger fit. It comes in fibreglass and carbon too.
Sim racing versions. Sparco also make the Circuit and Circuit II shells without FIA approval for sim racing rigs, with the same shape for drivers who want the feel of the real seat at home.
Whichever version you choose, the seat is side mount and sold on its own, so you will need approved side mounts and a frame for the car. The mounts need to be approved ones for the installation to keep the seat’s homologation.

Is the Sparco Circuit II Carbon FIA approved?

What is the difference between the Circuit and the Circuit II?
The Circuit II is the larger shell, for drivers with a bigger torso; the Circuit is the smaller one.
Is carbon worth it over fibreglass?

Can I use a Sparco Circuit II on the road?
We do not recommend it: the head wings restrict your view, and it is built for competition.

Yes. Sparco make non-FIA Circuit and Circuit II seats for sim racing rigs.
