The wire loop is pre-formed and stiffer than a fabric strap. It does not compress or fold flat against the bumper between events, and the loop shape is always open and ready for a recovery hook. In a recovery situation on track where a marshal needs to attach a tow rope or strap from a moving car, a stiff pre-formed loop is sometimes faster to work with than a fabric strap that has folded flat and needs to be opened out. The wire also holds its shape in mud or under water, where a fabric strap can bunch or become slippery to work with.
Available in black, blue, and red. Three colours is fewer options than the fabric tow eye straps (23N500 and 23N520, both in nine or ten colours), so if a specific colour is required by your class regulations for visibility purposes, check the fabric versions first. Hi-Vis Yellow is not available in the wire version.
Wire tow loops suit cars with accessible fixed tow points where the tow eye sits at a depth the wire loop can reach comfortably. For a car where the tow eye sits deep inside the bumper, or at an angle that would suit a strap that can flex rather than a rigid loop, the adjustable fabric version (23N520, £15) gives more flexibility for positioning. At £14.95, the wire loop is priced similarly to the adjustable fabric version and the choice between them is dictated by the tow point geometry.
