The Sparco sub-frame for the BMW Mini R50 (part 00499038-3947) is a vehicle-specific fitting frame for first-generation MINI hatchbacks on the R50 platform, covering models from the 2001 launch through to the end of R50 production. If you are fitting to an R53 (the supercharged Cooper S with the screw-type compressor), note that a different part number applies. The R50 and R53 chassis are similar but the seat mounting geometry differs between them.
The frame bolts to the Mini’s standard floor mounting points and provides the 345mm x 271mm base mount bolt pattern, compatible with Sparco, OMP, and Corbeau base mount seats. The same part fits both driver and passenger side in a right-hand-drive car.
It comes with a metal bracket that your original seatbelt buckle attaches to, so a reclining or road seat on this frame keeps the car’s own seatbelt. It also sits the seat a little higher than an OMP motorsport base, closer to where the factory seat put you.
Construction is steel. Sold individually.
The first-generation MINI is a common circuit car and getting the seat position right matters more than on roomier platforms. There is limited margin in the MINI for head clearance and reach adjustment, so the choice of seat shell and the height the sub-frame sets both deserve attention before ordering.
At £82.90, the R50 sub-frame is priced in the mid range for Sparco’s car-specific fitting hardware and provides a direct-fit alternative to fabricating custom mounts on a platform where aftermarket options are well established.
