The Sparco R500 (part BPR0001BOK0100N) is a reclining sport seat on a steel frame, designed for road and track day use where the ability to adjust the backrest angle is useful. It mounts on the standard Sparco base mount bolt pattern at 345mm x 271mm, which means it is compatible with the same vehicle-specific sub-frames used by other Sparco reclining seats on this site.
The trim is cloth throughout. The reclining mechanism means the seat works with a standard diagonal seatbelt as well as a 4-point harness. There is no head support wing, which keeps the seat usable in cars with a low roofline or narrow A-pillar clearance where a winged bucket would foul the aperture.
Driver sizing covers all heights. Waist fit runs from 32 to 38 inches across the listed options, which is broader than some of the other Sparco reclining seats that cap at 36. If you are between 36 and 38 inches and have been defaulting to seats listed at 36, the R500 is worth checking before assuming a larger seat is needed.
Sold as a seat only. Sub-frames and runners are sold separately.
At £274.16, the R500 sits at the top of the Sparco reclining range on this site. It is the option to consider when the cloth trim and the extended waist sizing are both relevant to your build. If neither of those factors applies, the lower-priced reclining seats in the range will do the same job.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Customer Question: Can I fit Sparco R500 Seats in My Land Cruiser 80 Series?, and Sparco R500 Reclining Sport Seats – Now In-Stock and On Display. Some of that comes straight from real customer questions, so you are reading answers other buyers actually needed.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 36in to 38in or 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
You need the car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner for fore-and-aft adjustment. Tell us your car and we will quote the complete fitting kit in one go. Our sliding runner guide covers the adjustment side.
Does it recline like a normal seat, and what about armrests?
Yes, the backrest reclines, which is the whole point of a sport recliner over a fixed bucket: support in the corners, comfort on the motorway, and access to rear seats. Armrests: not fitted on this model. Our recliner lineup comparison shows how the ranges stack up.
I am a bigger driver. Will it work for me?
Possibly, and it depends on the exact shell rather than the brand. We wrote a straight-talking guide on sport recliners for larger drivers from real showroom fittings, and if you send us your waist and height we will tell you honestly which recliners work at your size.
What bolt pattern does the Sparco R500 use?
The R500 is a base mount seat on the 345mm x 271mm bolt pattern, the same pattern used by most Sparco and OMP base mount frames. You will need a frame drilled to that pattern for your car, plus a sliding runner if you want fore and aft adjustment.
How does the Sparco R500 compare with the R100 for room?
The R500 is wider through the body and flares out more than the R100, which is the narrowest recliner we sell. If the R100 feels tight through the hips, the R500 is the next step up for comfort rather than a different style of seat.
