About Sparco’s labelling: part code 008009GNR is Sparco’s non-FIA Grid Q. It is the same seat as the FIA Grid Q (S008009RNR), with a different colour logo, and is suitable for road, track day and gaming use. Sparco label this version for gaming, so it can arrive with a “sim racing use only” sticker and a bag marked “Grid Q sim”. It is the correct seat for road and track day cars with harnesses; the only thing it is not for is FIA-accredited events, where the homologated S008009RNR is required.

The Grid Q is Sparco’s entry fibreglass bucket seat for track days and road use. SKU 008009GNR.

Side-mount, fibreglass shell, fabric trim. The fabric trim is worth noting: it breathes better than velour across a long day on circuit and is more durable in regular use. No head support on this model.

The approval is Road and Track, not FIA 8855-1999. That means the Grid Q is not valid for circuit championships requiring a homologated bucket seat. For track days where FIA approval is not required, and for road use, it is the correct seat. If you know your next step is competition that mandates FIA seat approval, the step up is to a Sparco FIA QRT variant, which carry 8855-1999 at a higher price.

HANS compatible. Six-point harness compatible. Rated for drivers with a 32-to-36-inch waist.

Side-mount fitting requires the Sparco steel side mount plates and a vehicle-specific sub-frame, both sold separately. The Grid Q is the entry point into the Sparco fibreglass bucket range stocked here. The fabric trim is its main advantage over the velour alternatives at similar pricing.

Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us and we will give you the honest answer.

What do I need to fit it to my car?

Is this the same as the Grid Q QRT sim racing seat?
No, Sparco make two different Grid Q shells. This is the FIA motorsport bucket seat for use in a car. The QRT version is built for sim racing rigs, not for fitting into a road or race car. Check which one you actually need before you order, and ask us if you are not sure which listing matches what you are doing.

Sparco stock arrives weekly

Sparco produce in batches and we receive Sparco products on a weekly basis, so the popular seats, harnesses and accessories are usually available for quick dispatch.

Less common models and colours are ordered in for you and take longer.

Tell us when you order and we will confirm the lead time up front rather than after the event. If it is on the shelf we will say so, and if it is coming in on the next delivery we will tell you when that is.
