This Recaro sub-frame (part number 863117-1998) fits the Volkswagen Lupo, produced from 1998 to 2005. The Lupo is a small car with a disproportionately focused following: the GTI version with its 1.6 16V 125 bhp engine was a proper driver’s car for its size, and Lupo GTI values have tracked upward accordingly. The sub-frame bolts directly to the Lupo’s factory floor mounts with no drilling.

In a car this small, seat position is everything. Aftermarket seats installed on generic side mounts in a Lupo can lift the driver enough to conflict with the roofline, or set the seatbelt angle incorrectly for the B-pillar height. The Recaro sub-frame is built around the Lupo’s specific floor geometry and keeps the seat at the right height for the car. Fore-aft adjustment is retained.

Fits Recaro base-mountable seats. Not for side-mounted competition seats without adaption hardware. One sub-frame, one seat position. Order twice for both sides and note your Recaro seat model at checkout.

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Check the bolt pattern in the specification against your seat. The Compatible seats tab above lists what bolts straight on. If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Recaro frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Recaro seats are produced in batches for the UK market

We receive Recaro deliveries regularly and hold good stock of the popular models, so many go out quickly.

Demand for the bucket seats is worldwide and production runs to Recaro’s own schedule, so the less common models and trims can take considerably longer. Ask us and we will tell you where a specific seat stands.

Before you order

If you need a seat for a date, ring us first. We would rather give you an honest lead time up front than have you waiting on a seat that is between production runs.
