The Recaro Podium CF, 3159.45. Recaro’s carbon fibre FIA bucket: seat only, side mount, FIA 8855-1999, HANS friendly, four or six point harness compatible, no head support, with a medium or large pad kit and a choice of trims, driver’s or passenger’s side at order. Two sold, fourteen photographs.
The carbon Recaro
A carbon shell that carries FIA homologation and goes into a road car as well: the listing carries both. It is the seat for a car where weight, homologation and how the interior looks all matter, and two people have paid 3159.45 for that this year.
Pad kits
Recaro fit the Podium with a pad kit sized to the driver, M for a medium build and L for a large one, chosen at order. That is how the seat is sized rather than by shell width, so tell us your build.
Trim
Black Alcantara with red leather, red Alcantara with black leather, or Perlon velour. Fourteen photographs on the listing show the trims.
Homologated as a system
Recaro homologate the seat with their own side mounts, fixed or flexible, as one system. The Podium goes on Recaro Podium side mounts, which are separate, as is the frame for the car. FIA 8855-1999 with the expiry on the seat’s label.
Harness and fitting
Four or six point; six with a head and neck restraint, which the seat is shaped for. Side mount. Tell us the car and we will list the mounts and the frame.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Recaro Podium seats for your 2019 Toyota GR Supra, including our fitting guide, and The Recaro Podium Is Back For 2023 With New Options. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
Send us your height and waist size and we will confirm the fit. The paper dimensions only tell half the story, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so you get the honest answer rather than a guess from a chart.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 4 point compatible and 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
