A Planted aluminium offset universal side mount. Part number PAOSSM.

Two things distinguish this from the rest of the Planted mounting range. It is aluminium rather than steel, and it is offset rather than straight.

Offset

An offset side mount moves the seat sideways relative to its mounting. That sounds like a niche need and it is not: in a narrow car, or one where a cage leg or a sill intrudes, a straight mount can leave the seat sitting off centre or fouling something. An offset mount lets you place the shell where the driver actually needs to be rather than where the mounting points happen to fall.

Aluminium, and what to check

Aluminium is lighter than steel, which is the reason to choose it. Note that Planted’s FIA thickness claim relates to their steel side mounts rather than to aluminium, so if your car is being scrutineered, read what your class actually specifies about side mount material and thickness before you order. Some regulations require steel.

For track days, fast road and anything not being scrutineered, the question does not arise.

Will this fit my seat and car?

Do I still need a sliding runner?

We bring a batch over roughly every 3 to 5 weeks. Everything in each batch is pre-sold against a customer order, so the sooner your order is in, the sooner it ships.

Once your bracket has shipped from the USA for your order, our non-returnable policy applies. It was bought in for you specifically.

That makes it worth getting right first time. Send us your car and the seat you are fitting and we will confirm the correct bracket before you buy.
