The Defender (1983-2016) covered 90, 110, and 130 wheelbase variants and a range of body styles from hard-top to station wagon to pick-up. Factory seating was built for utility rather than lateral support, and the high cab position combined with the Defender’s well-known tendency to roll in faster cornering makes driver hold more of a consideration than in most road cars. Replacing the driver seat with a Corbeau base-mounted sport seat improves lateral grip significantly in competitive off-road use, where cab movement on rough terrain can otherwise unsettle the driver’s grip on the wheel.
This Corbeau kit for the Defender is an adaptation bar set, not a complete replacement frame. It attaches to the Defender’s existing sliders, which need to be removed from the original seats first and reused as the lower rail. The adaptation bar approach means it works across all standard Defender wheelbase and body style variants without needing to specify the configuration. Only Corbeau base-mounted or reclining seats are guaranteed to fit; side-mounted FIA bucket seats will not work with this system.
