Side mountable seats only

These bolt through the sides of a seat. They will not fit a base mounted seat, and that is the first thing to check: holes through the flanks means side mount, holes underneath the base means you need a fitting frame instead.

If you are not sure, turn the seat over and look, or send us the model and we will tell you.

Steel, and how it sits against the alloy

Heavier than the alloy mounts and a good deal less expensive. Steel also wears better. Both materials carry FIA approval, so the choice is about weight and cost rather than what will pass scrutineering.

On a club or road car steel is usually right. The alloy is worth the difference on a car that gets weighed.

How they mount

Side mounts bolt to the sill structure rather than the floor, which is what gives the lower seating position: you lose the height a base frame’s legs would have added.

Check your sills will take the bolt pattern before ordering. A caged or purpose built car normally will; a standard road car sill may need reinforcing first.

Before you order

Made for Cobra’s motorsport range and they bolt straight in. Use them with Cobra seats: another maker’s shell may line up and we cannot guarantee the fitment.

One set mounts one seat. Order two for both sides.

Mounts on their own do not complete an installation, so tell us the vehicle and the seat and we will make sure you have everything.

What do I need to fit it to my car?
The car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.

How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike. We keep the ranges on display in the showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.
