This is the Cobra office base kit, the parts that turn a Cobra base mount seat into an office chair. Part number ACCES10. One kit is one chair, and the seat is not included.

Two pieces come in the box. The first is the height adjustable base, a five arm star with castors and a gas lift column, in your choice of black or chrome. The second is the adaption plate that joins the base to the seat. That plate is the part that makes the kit Cobra specific: its hole points are set at 291mm wide to match Cobra base mount bucket seats and sport recliners, which is Cobra own spacing across the range.

Which seats it suits

Base mountable Cobra bucket seats and reclining sport seats. That covers the Classic and Roadster shells as well as the reclining Le Mans, Daytona, Misano and Stuttgart. It does not cover side mount only seats, because a side mount shell has no bottom rails for the plate to pick up on.

Fitted to another maker seat the spacing will not line up, and we cannot stand behind the fit. Corbeau, Auto Style and OMP each have their own version of this kit for that reason. If you have a seat and you are not sure which base to order, tell us the model and we will match it.

The kits are made locally rather than bought in, so the plate is cut for the Cobra rail spacing rather than adapted to it. Assembly is straightforward with basic hand tools, and the gas lift gives the usual office chair height range once it is together.

The photograph is for illustration and shows a Cobra Misano fitted to the base. If you want the seat and base together as one order, look at the ready built Cobra office chairs instead.

Office and gaming chair size guide

These are the same seat shells we sell for cars, mounted on a gas lift office base. That means the sizing works exactly as it does on a car seat: measure across your hips sitting down, and go by the waist band where the product lists one.

Measure yourself sitting

1Sit on a hard, flat chairFeet flat, back straight against the chair back.
2Measure across your hipsThe widest point, side to side, sitting down.
3Think about how long you sitEight hours at a desk is a different job to a two hour stint in a car. Err wider here.
Size up rather than down for a deskIn a car, a snug seat is doing its job, holding you in place through corners. At a desk there are no corners, and a shell that grips your hips is simply uncomfortable by the afternoon. If you are between two sizes here, take the wider one.

Reclining or fixed back

Mechanism We stock Who it suits
Reclining 53 Almost all of them. The obvious choice for a desk
Fixed back 6 Sim racing rigs, where you want the shell to hold you still

For a desk chair you want reclining, and nearly all of these are. A fixed back shell makes sense on a sim rig where the whole point is being held still, and makes very little sense in front of a keyboard.

Armrests

Option We stock Notes
Without armrests 46 The racing look. Better if you sit close to the desk or use a sim wheel
With armrests 15 Better for a full working day at a keyboard

This is the decision people regret either way, so think about it properly. Without armrests looks better and is the right answer if you pull right up to the desk or you are using a wheel and pedals. With armrests is noticeably more comfortable across a full working day of typing.

The base

The base is the only part of these chairs that is not a car part. Ours come in black or chrome, in an even split, and the choice is purely how it looks in the room. All of them are gas lift, so seat height adjusts the same way any office chair does.

Because the height adjusts at the base, the shell height matters less here than in a car. What matters is the width across the hips and the depth of the bolsters.

Head support

Most of these have no head support, which is normal for a desk chair and means you can see over your shoulder without moving the whole chair. A handful have it, and those suit a sim rig or anyone who leans back to think.

Trim, for a room rather than a car

The trim choice is different indoors. Fabric, cloth and spacer fabric breathe, which matters when you are sat in the same chair all day, and they do not get cold in the morning the way vinyl does. Houndstooth, tartan, corduroy and basketweave are here because they look right in a room and they are what most people pick.

Alcantara and suede feel the best and mark the most. Leather and vinyl wipe clean, which is the argument for them if the chair is near a workbench rather than a desk.

These are not car seatsOnly a handful of these carry any approval, and where they do it is Gaming and Sim Racing or Road and Track. An office base is not a car mounting. If you want the same shell in a car, buy it from the seat range with the right fixing type, and we will match it.
Matching a chair to a car seat?Tell us which seat you have and we will find the same shell on an office base, or the closest thing to it. Send your seated hip measurement if you want us to check the size. Call 0115 989 3488 or email Sales@GSMPerformance.co.uk.

All figures read from our own product data for the office and gaming chair category, checked 2 August 2026. Counts change as stock moves.

Will I fit in this seat?
Send us your height and waist size and we will confirm the fit. The paper dimensions only tell half the story, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so you get the honest answer rather than a guess from a chart.

Does it fit a standard office base?
This chair comes as a complete unit with its base, so there is nothing to adapt: it arrives, you roll it under the desk. If you were after a racing shell for a sim rig instead, ask us, as that uses different mounting.

Can I use it in a car?
No. Office and gaming chairs in this range are built for the desk and the rig, not for vehicle use, and they carry no automotive approvals. For the car, the same look comes from our road-legal sport seats, and we will happily point you at the closest equivalent.

Availability

Cobra seats are handcrafted in the UK

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.

Working to a date, or not sure which trim to pick? Ring us before you order. Getting the specification right at the start is far easier than changing it later.
